To Massassi
2003-12-10, 4:56 AM #1
I have never been more proud of this community than I am now.

Massassi has seen a lot of low times - flame wars that reached across threads and over forums, debates that tore the forum into very clear camps and factions, members banned for things forgotten.

But this is Massassi's finest hour.

I sit here amazed at how a community of people that have never met, of people that know each other only through words can pull together and put aside their numerous and very projected differences to express a single voice and sentiment.

I have never seen a community pull together and try to help a family in need as this one has, and I thank you for the opportunity to see something so good.

This community has been an inspiration to this poster. Thank you.

I couldn't agree more.

Massassi is a raritie among online communities. This is one of the few places i've been able to call people my friends... not just "this guy I know" (=

It's amazing to me how generation d gathers and comunicates. Maybe more amazing for me, a gen-X'er.

It's so incredible how we come to this place that doesn't exist to see who is 'here' in this place that is nowhere. And it's become such a big part of some of our lives. Nerds, losers, geeks... Call us what you will. We don't care.
This 'place' is great.

I agree completely with just about everything said. I've always enjoyed coming here and seeing how well everyone got along. I am very amazed at how supportive, and nice everyone here is. I guess that's why I always keep coming back.

I love this place, always have (well since I first heard about it... from MaDa) and probably always will

1.) A lot of us have been friends for longer than Massassi has existed. Many of us have met in real life.

2.) The Cantina isn't a forum.

Flame bait aside, it's good to see that people care what happens to other people. Sometimes it can be pretty easy to forget that there are human beings on the other end of this network. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

....wow...why on earth did you choose this thread to take a swipe at the Cantina, GBK?

The cantina/BCF is a big group, like #massassi, do not judge all of us because you dislike the actions of some people there. Hell there are people in the cantina I don't get on with, it's just like any other collection of people.

Anyway, that aside, I was thinking the same thing Charoziak. This community has responded with not only sympathy/condolences, but with creativity by seeking to do something to pay to tribute to his memory.

It kinda reminds me of when someone in the Asheron's Call community passed away....the girl had always talked about doing a certain very difficult quest in the game with her character but was never able to. After she passed away a large portion of the server helped out whilst a close friend of hers completed that very quest with her character.....and because her character was the one to vanquish the big monster at the end her character received a global server-wide message acknowledging the accomplishment....it was actually really touching [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Meh, I cant judge all of you, but I was certainly scolded when I tried to join. Hell, not only was I not admitted, they made bloody sure I felt bad about it.

Score one for the community spirit, I suppose.

Kak, S51, Zeet, GoY, RiV, lv, DS, and SINE and numerous other people from Massassi were welcomed in the Cantina almost instantly. Do you think it might have had something to do with, oh, I don't know... your existing predisposition toward us? Like any other community, we aren't overly inclined to welcome people who hate us with open arms. You can't expect us to want you in the Cantina if you spend a fair deal of your time badmouthing us on the forums...

Sigh. Blame the -ites, that's always the story around here.

WTF? This thread is the first time Ive ever said anything negative (or anything at all, really) about the Cantina. You Ive flamed you before, but not anyone else from the Cantina, or the Cantina herself. Why you think I have is beyond me. If I had disliked the Cantina, why the hell would I have tried to join it?
