World's Oldest Man Dies at 114 in Spain

It must kind of suck to live that long, considering all of your friends would have already died and you're so old even your kids might be dead.

So? Just make new friends and try remarrying to have more kids. Or just get to know your grandkids better in their waning years.

Being retired for a half a century has to get boring after a while.

Ummm... you would THINK it would get boring, but as your time comes to die will you really say "YAY CAN'T WAIT TO DIE!" ??? Chances are you won't really want to die but you'll know it's inevitable so you might not think as down on it as you might in your late 60's or so.

I was just reading in my art history book that Titian [a Baroque painter] lived to be 189. It said that his age was highly disputed and reasonably so...

No, Methuselah died before the flood.

WHy do you think he lived so long to begin with? I mean, his name literally means "when he dies, it will come"... If you knew someone with that name, dont you think youd make bloody sure he didnt die? Dont you think his every wim was taken care of, his every desire fulfilled? He problably never had to work a day in his life. Noone wanted to find out what IT was...

But GBK, who knows? Maybe 'it' would be good! That's why if you ever run into one of these fellows, you should prolong his life only for the arithmetic mean of the possible years he can live. That way, if it is something good, you'll get it sooner than you might otherwise, and if it's something bad, you will have delayed it. Sometimes I amaze even myself.
