I don't get it either. Sure, I'm looking forward to HL2 and UT2k4 but I've been waiting for D3 since I beat Doom 2 all those years ago.

I think STALKER has the greatest potential out of all of the upcoming games, just because it's not half as worn out and overused as the premise behind every one of the other games. Doom 3 comes in a close second, since its focus seems to be more on survival horror and much less on the typical run-and-gun FPS game that we've seen so much of.

UT2K4... I've kinda put that one away with Halo/Halo2 and Planetside. Vehicular combat is a fun idea, but a complete game it does not make. I never wasted my money on any of the Tournament/Arena games just because, well... people suck and there's no point in playing a game if there's no goal to achieve. Plus I just didn't like Halo.

Far Cry has promise, but the pseudorealistic gunfight genre has never been attractive to me. I literally only played through SoF2 so I could shoot people in the face and listen to them gurgle blood, not for its compelling gameplay. I'm not a big fan of CS or any non-Wolfenstein WW2 games either. Rainbow 6, Rogue Spear, Raven Shield, Delta Force, all of which I have or had copies of, went totally unplayed just because I don't like it.
It also hurts that my framerate dips too low to quickly outthink the AI.

Half-Life 2 looks completely uninteresting.

Doom 3 looks like CRAP IMO. So many things are blockey, the skulls, monsters arms. These things could easily be fixed with a little more effort. Everything in the game is shiney. Some of you will know what I mean, but all the textures have this plastic feeling to it.

Blocky? Where the hell do you get blocky? From the video preview I saw a few months ago, the game looks pretty damn seamless if you ask me. I'm in the process of building a new computer so I can run that with high graphics and everything. As far as HL2, I never did like the other HL's games, so I probably won't be playing that one.

People still play and develop for quake III... DooM III will be the same way. It's the only tech that will last the test of time, mark my word.

Of course, Thief III's position is very conditional (after that article posted a while ago) and because:
