Unfortunately that will cost too much and I won't ever be able to buy one here.

Well, that isn't a loss. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

I don't think I would use 400 GB of space in a million years. I don't have THAT much porn, anyway. Only when I'm going through a dry spell [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif].

I could use it up within a week.

can a RAID0 configuration "stripe" across 8 whole drives? That would be insane! That would finally be large enough to hold all of Massassi! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

As for myself, I currently use a rustbucket with 15GB, and I'm constantly uninstalling/re-installing stuff so I have room. Almost all of it is gaming stuff, as well as editing stuff for such games. Currently, my hard drive has AT LEAST the following (My computer is a 500 Mhz AMD K6, so I'm lacking new stuff):
  • Master of Orion
  • Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders
  • Heretic II (Demo)
  • Hexen: DeathKings of the Dark Citadel
  • Hexen II (Demo)
  • Dark Forces (Plus half of all the levels at DF-21.net)
  • Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight
  • Dark Forces III: Jedi Outcast (Demo)
  • X-Wing
  • TIE Fighter
  • Descent
  • Descent II
  • Descent III (Demo)
  • Descent Freespace: Silent Threat (expanded version)
  • Descent Freespace II
  • Diablo II
  • Quake III Arena (Demo)
  • Unreal Tournament
That's just those I can remember at the moment. I like to use the maximum instalation size, 'cuz switching around the disks increases the chance for damaging them. I'd be able to find use for a 429,496,729,600 byte hard drive, without having any music, photos, or video on it. (although textures could account for many Gigs).

Just think of it: each of the upcoming games will take up several gigabytes jsut for a full instalation (UT2k4 will require some 5.5 GB). With newer games, I coudl fill up the space easily...

That should be sufficient for my music storage. My 8GB HD just isn't enough. I've almost got it full already, and I just formatted it a couple months ago.

400GB? Hell yeah, beeeotch.

Video. Raw or otherwise, video is huge. Especially if you want to store it for any length of time.

I have about 56 series of anime on this 'ere comp. Average of ~20 eps, average size ~100 megs. That and some, uh, "independent films" plus some games, that I own of course, and various other crap fills my 480 gigs quite nicely. I have 360 of that in raid0, and one backup guy of 120.

Woo.

[edit] Someone is gonna calcuate this. It's a rough estimate, rough!!![/edit]

I could use it. Constantly installing games, especially new ones coming out which are 1.5~6 gigs a piece, not to mention movies (anime...though pr0n would fill it up faster, anime's cooler :P) not to mention music. I could get a copy of every ska song ever made, at least all the good ones. Then there's mods, independent games, Linux which can take up about 30 gigs on its own if you do it right, then there's apps and different game installs for THAT. All kindsa stuff. Fun [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

[EDIT]To clarify the ska thing, I'm not talking about Warez. My friend is a punk 'zine editor and writer, actually owner too, and could easily get me copies of CD's legally. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

I could use that, easily. I run our satellite tv into our computer with a video capture card and have a dvd burner. I could use 400gb easily. As GBK said, video is a killer.
