Help with stupid computer...

...how can I re-format my computer? when I right click on my HD, I select "Format", but when I do, I get an error message saying, Cannot reformat because there are files currently being used by Windows. I shut/uninstalled everything I thought would be running, but it was all in vain. All I did was re-installed the stupid Windows ME, and all my crappy files are still there.

Please, I would like practical help here; not some quip about how "Windows sucks", or "Windows hates you". Just some help or advice please.

Start your computer with the command prompt, no Windows. Then
Code:
format c:

and/or

Code:
fdisk c:

If windows XP, it will format the drive itself if you follow the installation steps as if you were building a new comp... I can use more detail if you wish...

If Windows ME/9x (dunno about 2K) you need to make a boot disk, reboot the computer leaving the floppy in the drive, and when you get to the command prompt type "Format C:" without the quotes.

Thanks, FCTuner, my computer is now reformatted. And to top it off, everything is running at nominal speed, frame rates are back up, etc. 'Bout time too. It only took me almost 5 hours to get everything up again.
