I once set a friends hair on fire after being teased over a video game. I politely told him to "shut up or I'm going to set your hair on fire." He wouldn't stop, and I'm a man of my word. I also attempted to stab him in his package with a steak knife once, but that's another story...

Well, what would you expect a reasonable kid to do when the plug was pulled on them? I remember when I was a kid, and a babysitter hit the power switch on my SNES. She was fired that evening, after having to put up with me until evening, which could have been considered a fate far worse than being "shot" with a knife.

I'm surprized that they didn't "analyse" the story and suggested that he was playing some sort of "knife simulator" where he learned how to cut people percisely. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/rolleyes.gif] [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

Id say the kid was out of line but it depends on which game it was and how far into it he was.

Meh you don't know the circumstances. I admit in that story on its own the kid is out of order. But you don't know what the dad is like, or what the dads been like in other times - or what he might have done before pulling the plug.

The story doesn't really give you enough facts.

You need to really start reading these articles. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif] The dad *did* show the kid who was boss, it said so in the next few sentences. And he did it without a knife. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

Good points above; we don't know all the details. His parents were probably neglegant and spoiled him, he would've probably done the same had it been for TV or anything else.

Well, I guess you have a point. The dad could've been abusive. But chances are, the son is a spoiled brat with violent tendencies and the father was simply trying to get him to go to sleep at midnight.

we can not speculate either that he was spoiled or un-spoiled...
my speculation: most kids need the plug pulled earlier. i enjoy gaming but i would never let my kids (or myself) play for 12 hours straight.

This, for some reason, reminds me of the time when I accumulated 99 lives in Donkey Kong. By the time I had only used a small percentage of these to complete the next level, my mom told me it was time to go. I had to shut off the SNES [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif].

How exactly do people buy that late into the night anyways? I consider myself a hardcore gamer, but I could never play videogames that late. I wonder what game that kid was playing that generated that much anger. If the game was Battle toads and he was about to pass that stupid bike part, then you can kind of blame it on the game....

I won't even comment on stuff Casperhead has said today.... anyway... on to the topic at hand. I agree with Is on this and that this kid needs his computer thrown away or something. He seriously needs help. Anyway, what the hell is wrong with you people? Doesn't anybody believe in pranks anymore? I once renamed my friend's comp "Anal Sex Extravagansa" before a major LAN competition. That was funny as hell.
