UT > UT2004 > UT2003

It's better than 2003, but nowhere near as good as the original, still. Fun to play ocassionally, not enough to buy it.

You have no idea how much that tickled me, thank you. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

[insert rant here]

Now, on to the subject. I got Battlefield Vietnam instead of UT2K4, because I'm more of a crouch-to-fire kind of guy, though I played the demo of UT and I LOVED it (definitely better than 2003, no contest, obviously). It's no original UT, but there's enough fun and neew things to be worth a try, especially if you didn't get 2003. That's my take, anyway.

Not every map has vehicles in it . . . but I find that the vehicles only add to the experiance, not detract from it.

Or maybe I just get a bizarre pleasure out of running over my enemies with a tank, and hearing that wonderful squishing sound, accompanied by the terrible screams of my victims... [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

The variation with gameplay modes alone is an improvement in the FPS department. I mean, it's UT, all the fast and furious crazy action, but has incredible elements that almost demand teamwork from the players. I think that's very rewarding. Plus the fact that it's basically an incredibly glorified update to the amazing ut2k3. Still, I'm going to have only paid 10 bucks out of pocket at the end with my two rebates, and that's WELL worth it.

I'm still looking for people to play with online!!! Having a Massassi team would just be brilliantly wonderful!

Email me if interested, or reply here...or sever the head of your first born son and mail it...yeah, there's always that option.

P.S. Single player is much better than any other UT. Period.

UT2K4 is a lot more like UT, and would probably be exactly the same with the classic models and mutators. I didn't like UT2K3 much at all, but UT2K4 is really great. It's okay if it's not like the original you know, afterall it would be silly to just remake a game.

Neither do I, but I got the game anyways. The vehicles are really only in onslaught mode. There's some in assault maps but they're not the focus of gameplay. For instance, there's a map where you have to steal a tank, and you get to actually jump in and blast your way out. But then, I had to play about six hours in singleplayer before I even encoutered a tank!

I'm about half-done with double domination and bombing run, and on the last levels of CTF and assault. (assault is the most fun so far!)

Yecti, Unreal Tournement is still great. UT2K3 and 4 aren't as good. One reason UT is still great? Great mods like CROTCHSHOT (which they need in 2k3 and 4) and Nuclear Flakk Rabbits! Those are great mods [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

Is multiplayer UT2k4 compatable between Demo and Full versions? (assuming the full version people are using the maps from the demo, of course)? I haven't seen any decline in the number of hosts for the demo version recently...

The full version guys like me can play the demo dudes on the levels in the demo, but only on demo servers...makes sense, no?

I played the original UT for all of about 20 min and didn't like it. I played the UT2k3 demo for about 3 weeks before getting the full version and played that consistantly for 4/5 months.

But this version blows my mind.

Ion Cannons, Minigun turrents, vechicular combat, Assault mode, Onslaught, the 60+ maps SHIPPED with the game, voice chat, rebates for the game (I'm assuming that's how he got it for $26), and the overall friekin' awesomeness of the fast, furious, frenetic gameplay. What's not to love? Oh, wait, I know...It's not a crouch down, snipe enemies, "tactical" shooter.

But if you play it like such...uh...It could be. Try Assault level Robot Factory without coordinating a conhesive team. Can't win.

AGAIN: Anyone want to join up for a game sometime? IM me or something. I'll bring coooookies...

I hate the Hellbenders though. They can only run over people if you don't have others in the turrets.

Robot Factory's Ion Cannon = Maxis with 49 kills in 5 minutes.

I personally love UT04. I don't really see how you guys can say its not as good as the original UT...to me it takes everything good about UT and adds to it. The only thing I miss from UT are some of the maps, but hey...it's a new game. And they still included some classic maps like CTF_Faces from UT.

I think it's great!

Now all I've got to do after getting it is to learn to map and never use the skills. I guess it'll largely be similar to most other things I've edited.

And I ordered it from Play.com for £18 - The cheapest I found for the 6 CDs.

I've never played UT or UT2k3. I was never big onto FPS's, and then I got a line of FPS's that were alright, but UT2k4 blows the hell out of them.
