Rice are small and agile, but noodles are just too big for the little buggers to overwhelm.

So whilst I enjoy rice with a good curry, noodles would win that battle hands down.

Noodles also have a massive time advantage on their side. Brown rice can take 45 minutes to cook! Noodles - just add hot water and 2 minutes later, voila, a batallion of noodles ready for some hot steamy action. Sure you can also get those instant rice things that cook in 5 minutes, but who buys them? No one! That's who.

Why don't we break it down:

Versatility: Both are pretty much universal, BUT HOW MANY NOODLE DESERTS HAVE YOU HAD. Rice Pudding has no analog in noodles.

Size: Noodles are the winner here, no contest.

Manuverability: Rice, if the right type. Can elude even the mightiest fork.

Charm: Rice is nice. Noodles are... uh... see, no rhyme. Rice wins.

Therefore, buy a score of 3:1, rice.

Man, I blame this on finals... Pointless is fun thought...

Noodles all the way. Noodles are way more maneuvarbel than rice. Noodles can encircle the rice, while rice... well rice just sits there.

It depends on the noodles. Elbow macaroni, yes rice would probably win. Large dumplings however, the kind that are the size of softballs, well rice just can't scale that kind of wall.

Are the opposing armies allowed to use different kinds of themselves in the ranks? f so, Dumplings and wontons could form a blockade, with ziti and elbow macaroni shooting sauses onto the incoming rice, and butterfly pasta could preform bombing runs. how could rice hope to compete with that?

Two Words: Wild Rice.

The wild rice hordes will ravage anything in their path. The Indian rice can call upon their huge bombard elephants, while asian rice can build a great wall to hold off those who get past the wild rice.

C'mon, maybe noodles feed Italians three times a week, but paired with beans, rice feeds like 3/4 of the world and has a monopoly on all third world meals all over the world.

not really. and i am italian, so don't ry to say i don't know my facts. tortolinni (sp?), ravioli, gnochi, quite a few pastas are used as main cources. Sure, they are used for side dishes or accompaniments to main dishes, but they are not never used as the main dish.
