Help hunting for a particular type of DVD player
2004-03-18, 5:02 PM #1
I'm a mobile DJ. I'm upgrading my system to mp3 CDs. I've got one DVD player already purchased. It's made by Apex, and plays mp3 CD's, has the numbers on the front, so I can push 1-4-2 to go to track 142, and is really reliable. However, it's 3 disc. I'm just wondering if anyone has seen a DVD player like this that is single disc. I tried google, but was at a loss (after a few tries) as to what to type into the search engine. So, if anyones knows of one, or has one at home, or knows of a good web site (this is a standard HOME DVD player), please post the site, or the brand and model number.

--Note: I've heard the 'why not just use a laptop?' argument many times before. There's just something not quite the same about laptops and live mixing, etc.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

I don't mean to be rude, but I don't ask a question about something unless I've exhausted my own resources. Trust me, I've looked around. I'm just hoping that someone has some info that can't be easily found.

on that very page there are many single disc Dvd players that play Mp3 CDs and have a track number display.

Here's one
Here's the one i own

Now please don't tell me that they didn't have anything. Have patience with your searches

He's looking for one where you can input the track number, our church has one, so I'll let you know what it is Sunday. Tis very nice though.

Also I you can rack mount these, as that's what we did. Plus having to bring the remote.. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

Ya, NuMark has a nice Pro DJ Dual CD player with jog wheel, pitch control, etc. which plays mp3's too. But it's $499. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

I'm just curious, but whats your rationalization for using mp3s? I mean, maybe cds can be compared for vinyl, but mp3s have such poor quality compared to cds or vinyl. Or do more djs use mp3 these days and I'm just not aware of it?

If it's loud enough, I'm not sure people care what it is. I have seen a lot of DJ's using laptops and mp3s now-a-days. Easier to organize.

The best djs dont just simply play loud music. They know how to start with something downtempo, and as they move through their track list they begin to introduce songs with more and more energy until the finale. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Well, if I get mp3's at 196k or above, noone can tell the difference, but the main reason is that I can hold all of my music in a 40 CD holder (making 2 copies of each mp3 CD, so that there's on for each player) instead of lugging around a bunch of 100 CD holders. I can keep the Cd's in my car and jam out, and then just bring it in and sit it next to the coffin (where all the equipment is mounted into).

I'm not a rave DJ or something like that. I do wedding, parties, that sort of thing. Turntables aren't really useful for 'conservative' DJing.
