Last i understood, Gaim still didn't support file xfer. At least under icq i think it was, though icq's just a horrid buggy old protocol in general, aim while being all evil aol-spawn at least works really well in general, and since aim owns icq now it's kinda pointless to use icq anymore though i can't proselytize my icq people to use aim.
Naim is lovely when youre working in a console, i'm rather fond of it currently as i'm still working on building my gentoo 2004.0 boot again.
For irc xchat or B*tchX, though can do those in naim and gaim [i think] as well.
On a similar note, what's the deal with jabber, like i guess it's a way popular alternative protocol, i just don't quite understand how it works, like does everyone you know need to be on the same server, or what, like is it like irc in that regards or.. ??

"You'll have to face it, the endings are the same however you slice it. Don't be deluded by any other endings, they're all fake, with malicious intent to deceive, or just motivated by excessive optimism if not by downright sentimentality. The only authentic ending is the one provided here:
John and Mary die. John and Mary die. John and Mary die." -Happy Endings [Margeret Atwood]
