Two Monitor/ 1 computer/ 2 games

Well, I was thinking, is there anyway you could have 2 different pc games running at the same time on different monitors. If your pc could run it. And could you hook up two keyboards and mice to the machine. So that my brother and I could play at the same time off one machine. Or we could play games like JK or JO (if the machine could handle it) together.

If anyone could help me out I would be greatful

Thanks

Arkon

You'd probably end up wasting a lot less time, energy, and money, if you just bought a cheap second computer that was capable of running JK.

Yeah, you can pick up a rig capable of handling JK for like $50 these days, which is most likely cheaper than a video card capable of doing that whole split screen thing.

No. Both games would want to run on the same monitor, and JO would hog all the system resources.

You dont need a dual-head card, just 2 video cards. With a dual-head card, youll get dialog boxes popping up between the monitors, windows maximizing accross them, etc.

On my dual monitor setup, QuakeIII engine games won't run unless I disable the secondary monitor. The main monitor runs off ATI and secondary of onboard video. I would say that most games that will run inside a window should be able to run with others however the kind of games that I think will work are nowhere near the type I think you're talking about.

The problem would be having two inputs. I know not of a way to get Windows to recognise two mice as separate user inputs. And even if it could, the games would have to know about them and only listen to one.

I'd have to agree with everyone who said get a second computer.

Anything that requires 3D acceleration will not work on dual monitor setup, since you can only grab acceleration from one screen at a time. It is also a problem that most all games automatically start on the primary monitor. Now, if you want to play, say, UT and Solitare, no problem. Only one game requries 3D, and Solitare will stay open on the second monitor.

Another thing is: Why would you want to? You can only play one at a time...

And I said you can only play one game at a time. Windows only allows one program to have focus at a time, thus only one game would receive the commands.

I wan't arguing with that. i was just answering your question as to why he would want to play two games at once:
