Yeah, I'm feeling a little loopy.. Spitting out blood is fun.. etc. etc. The anesthesia has not yet worn off, at which point I'll be under the influence of Vicadin. However, I'll need some advice about how soon I'll be able to go back to work. I'm scheduled for Friday, which would give me about 78 hours..

For those who have gone through this, is that realistic, or should I call in sick?

You should be fine by the time you gotta work... Just kick back and do nothing until then, your mouth might still be feeling a little harsh, but I doubt it would be anything nasty... would be better off asking a doctor at any rate.

If you're still taking Vicodin by that time, it's probably not a good idea to go anywhere. Unless it's low Mg. Mine were 750Mg and I couldn't even function.

Were they bone impacted? If so, probably not. If not, then you'll probably be all right.

Ugh, went through that this time last year. Turned out I don't mix too well with the pain killer they gave me (I honestly don't remember what it was) and I spent a day throwing it up (heaving with bloody holes in your mouth is not fun!)

I can't remember how long I was out... I believe about 3 or 4 days. I remember we scheduled to do it over spring break so I wouldn't miss any school... oh, and don't let them send you home without telling you how to clean the holes! The idiots decided it would be a good idea to tell me at some later time (not entirely sure when that was supposed to be) and after a few days I started getting the most disgusting taste in my mouth-- turned out to be food packed down in there and rotting :x
so we went in and they gave me a squirt-syringe type thingie to clean them out [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif] that was gross, to say the least

Mine will be removed in June. I can't wait. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

The time it takes people to recover varries a lot from person to person... some people are fine by the end of the same day, some people can take as long as a week to recover.

Ah yes, the fun of having all four teeth pulled at once.. It took me 3 days to recover and start eatin normally again. Those painkillers they put me on made me sleep straight for over an entire day (!)

Wasn't too bad afterwards, just remember to keep those holes clean, or else you can get dry rot, which really stinks and can be pretty bad(not to mention incredibly painful).

I wouldn't worry about it, Freelancer, I went to school the next day and performed in a symphonic concert the next night.

When I had two teeth surgically removed (with general anasthetic and the whole shebang) the hospital told me to wash my mouth out with salt water about 5 times a day... stung like **** at first, but it seemed to do the trick.

78 hours? I called in sick a whole week. Just use mouthwash after every meal, and try to eat stuff like that Campbells liquid chicken soup and potatoes. And keep a gauze in there all the time.

It took only a few hours for me to be useful, however my mouth still hurt for two weeks. I had all of them taken out at the same time, mind you.

I must be one lucky sonofa*****. I had all mine taken out about 2 weeks ago, the operation went perfectly, I recovered in a couple of days, and there was no pain at all the whole time. No excess bleeding either.

They wouldn't let me eat chips, though. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

When I got mine pulled back when I was 16, I missed 3 days of work (I had scheduled off) then came in on a Saturdaywhen they begged me. I was late though cause some food got caught in my jaw and had to run to the dentist (she had to come too, cause she was at a birthday party) and cut my gum open and pull the food out. Yeah it was nasty. I had a hole in my mouth the size of a BB.

I'm gettng mine pulled during the middle of next month.

nice way to go pissing away spring break like that (not), but that's the only time I could do it and have sufficient time to recover. At least I'll have some cool hallucinations, so that will probably help make up for it. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

also, uber genetics runs in my familty, so I'l lprobably heal quickly. That's how it is for practically everytrhing else.
