Double the bandwidth of 8X AGP across the bus, total. IN BOTH DIRECTIONS! (AGP only goes in one direction at a time)

Because, as everybody knows, so much high end ISA hardware is released every year.

At least the processor will be out of date faster than a 9800 will in terms of performance in games. How much more graphically and physically (in terms of the physics) superb can you get with the likes of HL2?

I dont get it, its almost like someone is competing slots... why dont they just make a better AGP and leave PCI to other hardware devices.

Because in the future a faster PCI bus could benefit all devices, such as maybe a new USB version that is faster than our current PCI bus can support. The new PCI express wouldn't be focused around just video cards. This would also benefit IDE controller cards, with the raid controllers getting faster, it will take more speed. It's all about thinking for the future. Sure, it may not have much advantage now, but it will soon. Heck, right now, the difference between 4x and 8x AGP is quite small. Just give it time.

I'm guessing you watched TechTV last night too. They've been plugging that segment for at least a week.

Anyway, it is much better to go to this than stick with AGP. You will have the ability to install multiple highend graphics cards. In addition, all of your devices will be able to communicate at a higher rate. All of the video card manufacturers are ready to jump on board the new format as well as everyone else.

I can now honestly say that I am glad I skipped the AGP cards. Yeah it sucks to still have a PCI video card but I would have dropped big money on a new card that will soon be "obsolete".
