Computer related stuff has not been going well for me lately. Three things have been really pissing me off lately, ordered chronologically below, for your convenience.
Last year, my computer stopped playing DVDs, period. Each DVD program gave me a different error. I finally found something that worked--the PowerDVD trial. It expired, and I couldn't play DVDs anymore. I got the full version, which couldn't play DVDs. Annoyance number one.
Recently, my computer has been infected with a virus that resets my homepage to a spam page every time I boot my computer. Viagra, single girls, the whole nine yards. I scanned for viruses with the newest version of AVG, and no dice. I scanned for spyware with Ad-Aware, and discovered an interesting occurrence. Every time I boot, there's the same spyware installed. Delete it, and it will be back the next time I boot the computer. So, that's annoyance number two.
My computer has recently been disconnecting from the internet repeatedly. It's gotten to a point where I can't browse without needing to unplug stuff and plug it back in every three or four web pages. Instant messaging and IRC are, for the most part, totally out the window. Annoyance number three.
Lastly, I made a gesture of good faith toward Crytek and Ubisoft by preordering Far Cry. Apparently, as a reward for my trust, I get top shipping priority, as well as an enigmantic "Trip Planner" disc. Now, I interpreted "top priority" as getting it shipped around the time it came out. Apparently, my deduction was incorrect. Not only do I have no Far Cry right now while everyone else has it already and is enthusiastically posting screenshots, but the thing hasn't even been shipped yet. I called them and got an automatic hang-upper. Whoop-dee-doo. So, that was my day. Fun stuff.
