I was cleaning out my closet and way in the back I found a lightsaber prop that I made when I was around 11 years old.
I used to mess around back in my grandfather's workshop back when I was a kid, and he retired from the refrigerator repair business, so he had a lot of scrap metal and tools in his workshop. Needless to say, I had primitave hand tools to work with, so i couldn't do fine machining and shaping.
I made this saber from my own design, based loosely on obi-wan's ANH lightsaber:
-The handgrip used to be a thick rubber hose of some kind.
-The metal shaft is steel pipe
- The emitter used to be metal washers, some kind of metal socket, and the reflector from and old flashlight.
-Back when I made this, TPM hadn't come out yet and wasnt due for several years, so I used the control box of the classic sabers instead of the red button prequel lightsabers.
The whole thing is held together by metal screws and the internal core is made out of wood. It's held together by a screw at both ends.
if anyone else here has made their own sabers , please post them.
(making your own lightsaber doesn't make you a nerd... I was just an incredibly bored kid with an affinity for metalworking when I made this. )

Old aunts used to come up to me at weddings, poking me in the ribs and cackling, telling me, "You're next." They stopped after I started doing the same thing to them at funerals.
