People still play JK?
2004-03-25, 4:42 PM #1
I am curious to ponder this question: Do people still play JK? Why? What is there to look forward to (or backward)?

I stopped playing JK in 1999 and MotS in 2000. Both were just sitting for a long time on my hard drive until I uninstalled them both about a month ago (along with JO).

Because its fun. flashy graphics are not necessary for a good time, and those that realize that know that JK has a really great core gameplay, and plus tons of maps and mods to download.

I miss it, I still have it on my HD but I can't play it cause something about the view make my head hurt. I thing it has something to do with the sensitivity of the hrizontal vs. the vertical axis of the mouse.

If it wern't for that I would still play it.

Why do people still play Outlaws, Dark Forces, or Quake? They're great games. They may be dated, but the experience is unique in many older games, and can't be had with the games of today. Personally, I think JK continues to have some of the best gameplay of any FPS (and I've played quite a few, new and old). I've moved on to other things (MMORPG's for now), but I still hop into a NF CTF game with friends on occasion (JK has the best CTF that I've ever played).

Absolutely. It's not necassarily the graphics (or such) that make a good game; it's the gameplay. Look at the Twisted Metal games for PSX -- horrible graphics, excellent gameplay (DF has already been mentioned, so I'm giving another good example)

JK is awesome! Especially if you haven't played it in a year or so. You go back to it and play it as if it were any old 3D shooter (as opposed to going "Whoah this is such an awesome new game!") and it's a blast.

Dark Forces owns!

You can change individual mouse sensitivity, by the way.

Not only do I still play JK but I still play Doom and that's been around since 1994 and it's the best damn game on the planet.

I still played JK occasionally and made new levels until I got my new computer. Now I'm gonna stay hooked on UT2K4 for the next five years.

How DARE you think JK is dead!

::Blasts Cosmic with an old-school Concussion Rifle::

Look, Ma! No transparencies!

...Anyway, My current computer runs JO at ~5fps, and I like editing older games better, as you don't have to make them look better than say... UT2k4, for them to look good. My current work looks fairly nice, and it drops the framerate by roughly 50%.

Hey. If it weren't for JK, Massassi probably wouldn't exist, and thus we'd all have to find something better to do with our time. We all owe JK a salute. NOW!!

Bah, I can't be bother with this old game anymore. I just find it boring now. Then again, I haven't played it in ages so maybe another trip down memory line might bring back the spark of this classic. Hmmm.... Nah. This game is just boring.
