What is you favorite weapon in UT2004? It's the minigun for me. For some reason though it seems to do a disproportionatly less amount of damage against the monsters in Invasion than the other weapons.

Also, in the map names, what does the DE mean? (e.x. DM-DE-[mapname])

Another question: Which maps have the Leviathan on them?

I wasn't really impressed with UT2004, but the Shock Rifle is number one for me because I just think that the shock combo is too cool.

In the first UT, you could fire the shock plasma ball and then shoot a shock plasma beam at it and it would do an uber cool explosion. Plus it did more damage.

Link Gun secondary fire. I always find myself going back to it. When I'm running low, MiniGun serves as backup. Those are the two I'm consistently using.

Oh, and the Lightning Gun for long range stuff, and the Flak Cannon for close up.

Actually, they're all pretty damned cool, but those are the ones I use the most.

I pretty much only play Onslaught, so I'm gonna say my favourite weapon is the Leviathan [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

The Target Painter is really cool, too, nothing quite like calling in an airstrike. Oh, and ramming troops with secondary fire on the Manta or Scorpion is hella fun too.

As far as standard weapons go... I'd have to say the Rocket Launcher is my weapon of choice.

I have only played the demo so far, but my favorite weapon has to be the minigun. It is tied in awesomeness with the Link Gun.

Flak gun when it's a cramped map with tight corridors and small rooms. Else, I use the minigun at close/medium range and the shock rifle at long range.

the original UT shock rifle was the best though [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

Minigun is nice in onslaught, since you can pretty much snipe nodes without revealing your location. But its not my favorite.

The Shock rifle owns because it can completely stop a mantra flying at you, and does a ton of damage. Great for taking raptors down too.

The Flying Leviathan:

Best done in an area where you can be up against a wall; Drive the Lev into a corner, and have another player in a Raptor fly right between the front wheel and the spot on the side that moves when the Lev deploys.

Now deploy your Lev! The Raptor should be able to take off, carrying you with it! Super Mobile Attack Unit? And if the Raptor explodes, you'll be frozen in the air, as long as you stay deployed.

Any decent raptor pilot can get away from any locked misile. I can stay in a raptor an entire round without dying, dodging the AVRiLs and other raptor flying. From an experienced raptor pilot, Id say that a lightning gun or shock rifle is a pilots worst enemy

Assult- Sniper Rife
DM\Team DM - Flak cannon
CTF- Shock rifle
Onslaught - Link Gun (Love the second fire and it makes your power nodes construt faster, aswell as fixing them.)
Bombing Run - Sucks

I haven't yet gotten the full version yet (I need to upgrade my computer first), but I've used all the weapons (save for the target painter), and I'd say they did a good job of balancing out all the weapons... Except the Ion Painter. In my opinion, it sucks except for as a surprise weapon. It isn't as poerful as the redeemer, it requires a couple seconds to lock on, and you can't target it underneath anything.

Of course, the Dual Enforcers and Shock Rifle from the original UT Owned all other weapons... While they may have repaired some of the damage done by UT2k3's replacement of them, UT2k4's equivalents jsut don't come close enough... Once I get it, I think I shall take it upon myself to mod them back to their original UT status...

The target painter (and Ion Cannon) are interesting weapons. Save one or two people, no one seems to know where they are on any of the maps. Last night I managed to spend an entire round of Frostbite (the map with one 1 node) perched on top of the mountain where the Painter spawns calling in airstrikes, without a single other person even coming up to say hello. Yeah it's a cheap way of winning a round, but it is kinda satisfying [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

Well after all my troubles I managed to get a CD version (6 discs!) and get it working. I'd have to say it's a close one. The versatility of the link gun is comparable to the sheer quick and heavy power of the rocket launcher and of course, the minigun. Then again there are some wonderfully creative weapons like the mines, which are great fun to use. The fact that I can't choose one shows that it's a very well balanced set of weapons (except the biorifle, which has always been crap - even the manual more or less admits it! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif])

Is that gun in any of the demo levels? I have most of them pretty well explored, but you never know...

The demo levels have none of the superweapons... That I could find either, that is [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

Spider mines are awesome! I didnt realise until my friend showed me today that you can create a hoarde of them and then lead them around with secondary fire. So damn fun! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

The Ripper is sadly missed, in UT running around beheading everyone with it was just pure diabolicious..

However they still have the Flak gun! I consistently rack up Flak Monkey awards when i can play on my friend's computer [no chance in heck on mine of it running].

And yes, squishing people with the Manta is so very tastily evil..

Sniper rifle can be great fun as well, esp in that huge ol' map that reminds me of Kashyyyk meets an evil Lothlorien, bouncing up and down on the pads shooting at people's heads in mid-air [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]
