Bug with mIRC

Okay first off this has nothing to do with #massassi or ban evading or... blah blah... ya you get it... completely unrelated.

Okay I'm running a proxy server at my house and I allow windows to get my other computers IP address automatically. Which means whenever I restart my network I have a new IP. I am also behind a firewall which creates a bug in mIRC. It says it can't find my host name so it uses my IP instead but the problem is if I've been banned from a channel I can go back in because if I've reconnected to my network in that time my address is completely diffrent... anyone ever exsperience this bug? Is there a way I can fix it?

It's not a bug, and why do you have a proxy server in your house? That's really...really over the top...

Still no reason for a proxy. A router, MAYBE, but a PROXY? That's useful only for huge networks...

Either way, when you restart your computer, you obtain a new NETWORK ip, but as far as IRC knows, you are still on the same IP address.

I think he means getting a new IP from his ISP's DHCP server. And yeah, use a router or even Windows connection sharing over a proxy server. Those are used on huge networks where the 254 users that a normal router can handle aren't enough, or if they want to cache data. Plus it's a pain to have to input the proxy info in each prog you load.
