About a month ago, my mom gave me her Toshiba laptop because she didn't really use it. It's about 4 months old. I reeaaallly like it, but something is weird with the DVD player.

It plays really smoothly but every 4 minutes or so the disc starts making loud loading noise and a few seconds later the video pauses for a few seconds while the disc loads and it continues... almost like it can't keep up with the DVD. Sometimes it's really bad and sometimes it's almost un-noticable.

Any suggestions? I could take it back to Staples (ugh) but I only have a Manufacturer's warranty.

I'd suggest at least contacting toshiba and seeing if they have any solutions.

Never hurts to try driver updates.

I have to ask... are you sure the dvd drive is running in DMA mode?
