Say i came up with a great idea to make lots and lots of money, how would i go about patenting the idea? Does it cost a lot of money, where can I get it done, ect?

Google, if I understand it, will list companies that patent, register, and even trademark your product, whatever that may be.

Just googe "patent application". That should get you what you need.

Patenting is completely free if I'm not mistaken(or maybe some small fee from the government).

It's a process that's not to complex if you take the time to find out everything you need to do. Then there are the companies that charge an arm and a leg to do that stuff for you.

Old aunts used to come up to me at weddings, poking me in the ribs and cackling, telling me, "You're next." They stopped after I started doing the same thing to them at funerals.

Do it right. Get someone to do it for you. It'll cost you $3000.
Do it yourself and you'll be sorry you caused yourself so much stress and a huge headache.

I think there's actually a company that will send you a kit and they'll help you patent your idea and such. Usually their commercials have the caveman dude hammering at the round rock..

You shouldn't be able to patent an idea... however, you can patent a process or thing that you have 'invented'.
