Freaky story.

The American President, Notting Hill, Pretty Woman, Runaway Bride, It's a Wonderful Life, The Count of Monte Cristo...

These are all movies that my mother likes.

Then again she also likes Pirates of the Caribbean, Lord of the Rings, etc. (All the ones you just CAN'T hate)

So, our movie tastes are 90% of the time very very different. She dislikes just about any film with lots of action and blood..you know those R rated gun and blood fests?

So I rent Underworld. I start to watch it, and about 5 mins in my mother gets bored with whatever she is doing and walks down stairs. She just sits down and starts watching Underworld with me..I hate it when my mom watches a movie with me, I never know when an innapropriate part will jump up and BAM! "Ahh, sorry mom, didn't expect her to just run off and have rough sex with that guy". But I knew this movie didn't really have anything bad in it other then violence so I didn't really say anything. My mom is freaking cheering on during the film.

Ex. Selene punched Kraven in the chin after he was yelling at her, my mom is like "yea! go you!" or something. I was just amazed that my mom watched and enjoyed this film. The movie ends and she says "Yeah, it was pretty good"

HOLY CRAP?!!?

How can this be? I mean I think she liked the film more then me. I thought it was okay, I mean..it seemed like the film just got thrown at you. Random action. It felt like they spent more time trying to make the fights badass, and makeing sure that Selene's trench coat looked nice when she jumped, then they spent actually makeing the film. But even with all the cliches and cheesey acting, I still liked this film.

But..I mean my mom?! How in the world...

Any one else have parents that hate just about everything you like, or like maybe ONE thing you like?

dud: were you stoned at the time? [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif] (j/k)
it was an alright film... not my favourite, but still good.

i would have to agree with your mum's taste on films, actually... and yours.

my mum will watch just about anything with me; though i usually consider her lack of stomach for gore etc when choosing what to watch. (that's why i have a dvd drive in my comp [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif])

My mom doesn't like anything but chick-fliks (and "reality" shows). My dad likes all the good movies. My stepmom doesn't like anything that has a problem to be solved (ie, anything with a plot). That's about how it works in my family. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

My mom's done the same thing. She watched "Platoon" with me, and she tends to shy away from violence in films. Your mom could always have been feigning enthusiasm. Do you share many interests despite the movie differences? Maybe she just wants to connect with you.

I haven't watched a movie with my mom for quite sometime (or anyone else in the family except my brother). That probably has more to do with me not living with my parents than anyhting else. When I did live at home, we'd rent movies fairly often and watch movies as a family kind of deal but I don't know of that counts.

You guys are fortunate. My mom likes movies that relax you while you watch them, like Family Feature Films. She thought Finding Nemo was tense. Yeah, tense. Even so, she made it through The Patriot, and forced herself to watch The Passion (for religious reasons), but I've given up on getting her to watch We Were Soldiers, and almost given up on A Beautiful Mind. My dad likes my movies, though, so that's cool.

I can't stand watching films with my dad... he freaking narrates the damn film to me when we watch! It is annoying because I think I have enough brains to figure out what the hell is going on. The only time I'll watch a film with him is if I already saw the film. That way I won't have to worry about missing something important.

Exactly the same, except my dad gets so into it and is so vocal. I can't get him to shut up either! It sucks eating dinner with him while watching a movie [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

I didn't think Underworld was bad... but I didn't think it was good... possibly the most average film i've seen in my life.

Anyways, on the topic of mothers, my mother likes The Matrix, Pulp Fiction, etc. She also likes and relates to Eminem and his music.

My mom's alot like that, if it's gory or something she won't watch it. Or it has an "ugly monster" like Alien. She damns that movie whenever it's mentioned, and Predator. Even though she never watched either Predator, since it's got an "ugly monster" she hates it.

She isn't even gonna go see Van Helsing just because of the Vampires' teeth. But..she watches The Mummy just fine. Tell her they're made by the same director so they shouldn't be gory..but nope.

As for Underworld, it was an ok movie. I mainly got annoyed of their gun continuity.. firing a pistol full auto for a couple minutes with a basic magazine? Stupid. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/mad.gif]

There wasn't even a magazine change through the whole movie was there?... It did make me appreciate Blade 1 & 2 alot more though.

With the trenchcoats and the whole "uber chick with dual pistols" was too much like they were blending Blade with Tomb Raider. >_<

omfglol

Anyway, I haven't seen Underworld, and I don't care for vampire movies anyway, so I probably won't anytime soon.
