The AI in this game is unreal. The action (which at times, isTOO intense) is NOT scripted (besides carrying the story along) so your squad reacts realistically to your orders, tell you to watch out (they say it to each other too!), comment on good shots (not just your shots, I've heard names besides mine), take cover, etc. Then, Once your on the airfield you'll be seeing AI planes dog fighting above you WHILE you fight off swarms of Japanese soldiers. Did I mention I love anything that is AI related? :P

It's intense to be in a battle and hear your squad yelling to watch your back only to turn around to see a charging group of Japanese soldiers flooding towards you also yelling and doing orders. The enemy also doesn't just rush, they fall back, take cover, duck there heads and shoot over cover and just act damn smart.

Seems like a GREAT game and isn't quite as arcadey as the other MoH's.

What's the 'edge of death' thing like? I've heard that's meant to be really cool but creepy.

That should be fun to play through. I'm having so much fun with MoH: Spearhead right now, should be incredible when so much more has been added.

So far it's been a love/hate relationship. The demo takes way to long to load and runs like crap, I can run Far Cry faster and with more options on. The gameplay seems fun though (although the game is so hiccup-y, even at 1024x768, it's hard to tell) and the AI seems ok. Hopefully by release they'll have ironed out the ****ty performance bugs.

Ok, wtf. So first I have to watch these sh**** long loading messages at the very beginning and then I sit there for about 60 seconds wondering when a menu is going to pop up and let me begin a new game all the while its playing it's stupid music and has the words "Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault" but not letting me do anything. wtf? By the way, I have a 3.4 ghz 1024 mb of ram comp so I don't think that is the problem with it not loading.

Here's what the 'edge of death' looks like:
It happens when you run out of health, and you can just move your head, you can hear your heart beating, and if someone doesn't revive you in 30 seconds, you hear someone say something wierd in a distant fatherly voice, then it fades to black and it starts the level over. O_o
DO NOT WANT.

That was the best shooting game experience I have ever had in my life, it was truly amazing. The AI was incredible, it played perfectly, the effects, the guns, the everything. PURE AWESOME SEX

I thpught you would say that. The action was really intense and the the squad stuff is neat to use too. I like that your guys are yelling stuff out about where the enemy is, the medic treating wounded soldiers, and so on. It jsut look amazing

the blurring effect also happens when you fire the stationary weapons
getting help from a medic

like tofu said i hope they iron out the performance by the time they release the full game... it doesn't look good enough to run this bad

Oh goody, lets just squeaze the blood out of Q3 engine till it drops. Far cry graphics on Q3? No wonder it runs like crap. If I see another Q3 engine based game, I am going to scream. The game came out like what? 4 years ago! Get a life devs!

Looks cool... MoH is one of the greatest games of all-time. Hopefully the MP is kick-*** too. Anyone heard anything about co-op?

Just played a bit of it. It plays pretty much the same way Call of Duty does, which isn't a bad thing, mind you. The game does have some performance issues because I was forced to play it at 640x480 just to get the framerate high enough without any "hiccups". So far the game plays great, except for a few things that bugged me. I really don't like the crosshair in this game. It is hard to tell if you are hitting anything because of how large the crosshair gets, forcing you to rely on the aiming feature a lot. I guess that is what was intended but I would had prefered the crosshair to have at least a dot in the center. The airael fight with the planes was hard because you can't just shoot any plane. Some of them are the Allies planes so you have to look for the Japanese flag symbol on the wings before you shoot at them. One thing I thought was cool about the game was the fact that you had to call a medic to heal rather than pick up health packs like in the other games. Makes it more realistic that way.

So, just because ONE (and the 2 expansions) of the MoH games used the Quake III engine, doesn't mean that this one HAS to use it. It's also not an addon but another game in the series.

Comparing comments made about the demo elsewhere (shacknews.com, etc.) to what is being said here, it's like night and day.

I'm going to download it anyway...

Feels like a CoD patch, whoever said that I agree with you. The rifle is basically re-skinned right out of it. But hey there's nothing wrong with that, should be a very cool SP game.

Big concerns over MP, though. The 50-round Thompson will essentially make it (again) a CoD clone, with spraying fire the only way to win matches and rifles about as useful as geometry after high school.

Zero performance issues here at 1280x1024 (Athlon 64 2800, X800 Pro, 1 gig ram), ran perfectly and looks very pretty. The plane battle looked especially cool, with damaged and destroyed planes leaving nice smoke-trails and reminants.

I'll just wait until I can get it off a magazine coverdisk - 10+ hours just isn't reasonable to wait, even with 150k DSL.
