I went through the list of PS2 games that came out this year, and realized that I had played none of them.

I went through the list of PC action games and realized I had only played two (MP2 and BF1942: Road to Rome).

I went through the list of PC strategy games and found that I had played none of them.

In fact, I have played absolutely none of the games in that list outside of MP2 and BF1942: Road to Rome.

Wow.

Blah, it's just gonna be a popularity contest. How can the underdogs which have a small tightly knit community, but sold under 50k units, compete with the similar (usually more generic/established) titles published by massive software giants (EA, Eidos, Ubisoft, Activision) who throw hundreds of thousands of dollars on promotion and marketing alone? Also, newer flashier titles are gonna do better than titles released in the first quarter of 2003 (Splinter Cell anyone? No? Current linear weekend playtime games like Max Payne 2 and Call of Duty will be in the same position in 9 months.).

Hidden and Dangerous 2

RPG Game of the Year:
Knights of the Old Republic

Strategy Game of the Year:
Command and Conquer: Generals

Other good titles include Call of Duty, Max Payne 2, Freedom Fighters, Age of Mythology: The Titans, Rainbow Six: Raven Shield, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, and many others.

Soul Calibur II is indeed an awesome game. According to The Last Samurai Tekken's guest character on the PS2 version's name, in Japanese, means "Yes chopsticks"
