I would wager a large amount of pennies that some people here do indulge in Japanese Anime, called Anime, or by others who want to piss off some anime fans, Japanimation. Or by Steve, "Them thar cartoons with deh large eyes".

Anyway, I would like to propose some link trading...

One stop place for anime series:

http://www.animesuki.com

For anime and some game music:

http://www.anime-game-osts.com

For Manga:

http://www.toriyamaworld.com
http://www.snoopycool.com
http://www.omanga.net
http://noated.net/
http://www.anime-source.com/banzai/index.php

I'll add more later, this was just crap off the top of my head. Post away.

I have 5 links that I get my anime from, of which only one I can provide on these forums, but you already did. Animesuki.com

My favorite anime (in no particular order):

Naruto
Evangelion
Cowboy Bebop
Trigun
Witch Hunter Robin (*cough* My webcomic *cough*)
FLCL
Rah Xephon
Love Hina
Gundam Wing
Princess Mononoke
Akira
Ah My Goddess
Ranma 1/2 (The one that started me into Anime. I found it hilarious)
.hack//SIGN - MY FAVORITE, HANDS DOWN.
.hack//udeden - Also known as .hack//DUSK or .hack//Legend of the Twilight - GREAT, almost as good as SIGN.
Kenshin
Ninja Scroll
Ragnarok - The Animation
Noir
Outlaw Star
Get Backers
Yu Yu Hakusho
Hellsing
Metropolis
Inu Yasha
Endless Waltz (Gundam Wing Movie)
Blue Sub #6 (Miniseries)

Anime I enjoyed, but wasn't thrilled with:
E's Otherwise
Big O
Crest of Stars (My first old-style anime)
Ronin Warriors

Anime I plan to watch soon:
Escaflowne
Spriggun
Serial Experiments Lain
Record of Lodoss War
Child's Toy (Kodomo no Ochomo I believe is the japanese name) - I've seen one episode, looks funny as hell, but hard to find
Rah Xephon - The Movie

Edit: Continuing to update this list as I find more I have watched.

Off the top of my head....

Escaflowne - My favorite anime ever, it's what got me started, and it's just so entertaining , it's more like a really long and great film then a series. Escaflowne the movie is like all 26 episodes crammed into 2 hours, with a different animation style. It's meh.
Cowboy Bebop - Need I say more? Film and Series = SEX.
Trigun - Everyone has seen Trigun. It's brilliance, with likeable charactars, a good story, and it can be holarious at times.
Hellsing - A hella awesome vampire anime. Every episode is jam packed with bloody action!
Love Hina - This show has something for everyone. It's pure brilliance.
Roujin Z - A great film about a depressed old man and his journy in a health care unit! A really great but lesser known film
Spirited Away - Hayao Miyazaki!!! Need I say more?
Princess Mononoke - See above.
Iria - I like this one alot. Action, suspense, humor, gotta love it.
Venus Wars - A grungy punk biker trash talk film. <3
Record of Lodoss Wars - Like Lord of the Rings anime style, but a bit different. Good stuff.
Rah Xephon - I got started on this when I get a DVD in my Newtype magazine. I love it.
Evangelion - Amazing story, and twists all over the place.
Ranma 1/2 - Holarious slap stick.
Metropolis - One of the most amazing films I've ever seen.
Ayane's High Kick - *blushes* just because 99% of people hate it doesn't mean I can't enjoy it >.<
Think while it's still legal.

Witch Hunter Robin
Vampire Hunter Miyu
Saiyuki (Reloaded)

Bah I forgot!

I've seen (And loved):

Hellsing
Metropolis
EDIT: Thought of TWO MORE!!! WTFOMQ!!!
Yu Yu Hakusho
Inu Yasha
EDIT #2: OMQ MORE:
Blue Sub #6 - Man that was awesome
Endless Waltz - I always lump this with Gundam Wing, but it is awesome in its own right.

I've seen (Only enjoyed, didn't love):
Ronin Warriors. Just couldn't get into it.

Can't believe I forgot those. Although I am sure there is plenty more I've seen too.

Outlaw Star
Gundam Wing
" " Endless Waltz
Blue Sub #6
FLCL
Cowboy Bebop
Trigun
Ronin Warriors
Chobits
Full Metal Panic

A few of 'em I like. Chobits is an OK anime, it's not really amazing, to be honest.

Full Metal Alchemist, both in the manga and anime form, is turning out to be meh favorite series. The series is licensed now, but the manga for the time being isn't. If anyone needs to know where to get it, the fisrt few volumes are on toriyama, some are the FMA fansite (first one that comes up in goggle), and the last to 38 are on anime source.

My absolute favorite is Rurouni Kenshin, although Cowboy Bebop comes really close. Mobile Suit, Gundam Wing, and Hellsing weren't bad, either.

As far as movies go, my favorites are probably Princess Mononoke and the Bebop movie.

Although, to be honest, most of my exposure to most other series has been only 1/2 episodes at a time, which doesn't always give you enough time to get a feel for the show.

I absolutely hate anime. yes, i've seen some of the "good stuff", not just the domesiticated s***, and i still don't like it.

Whatever happened to good old-school american animation? i would kill to see the old spider man cartoon again.
2004-09-04, 10:05 PM #11
I like a few japanese shows that are funny and well plotted with nice animation as well. Why do people use logic that just because something is anime, it instantly rocks? Anime doesn't need plots then eh?

I don't think there're that many people that assume that all anime rocks. There is just a lot of it out there that's quite good, so people pay attention to the ones they like the most and let the rest slide.

Cowboy Bebop
Hellsing

I dont have cable, and it sure as hell isn't on network tv the last time I checked.

I don't feel like paying for it, and I'm not quite ready to climb the pole and hook up my own tap :)

My favorite Anime Shows are (not in any particular order):

- Gundam Series (Gundam Wing being the best, the rest kind of suck or are lacking)
- Tenchi Muyo! (except for Tenchi in Tokyo, that show sucked)
- InuYasha
- Yu Yu Hakusho
- Rurouni Kenshin (I wish it wasn't cancel, dammit)
- Robotech: The Macross Saga
- Case Closed (aka Detective Conan)

Shows I liked but don't care for much:

- Dragon Ball Series
- Cowboy Bebop
- Trigun
- Outlaw Star
- Ronin Warriors
- Wolf's Rain

Shows I did watch at one time but absolutely HATE now:

- Sailor Moon (corny and repeatitive)
- Pokemon (corny and stupid)
- Tenchi in Tokyo (horrid, shames the Tenchi series)

Shows that I know suck but watch anyways for nostalgic reasons:

- Sonic X
- Transformers: Energon
The cake is a lie... THE CAKE IS A LIE!!!!!

It's not a good sign when like all the anime you list was or is on Cartoon Network.

Ranma is the only anime I'd admit to liking. I tolerate a few others, X isn't too bad, I can deal with Inu Yasha because it's the same artist as Ranma, Escaflowne is alright. Oh yeah, and Orphen. Although now a Cartoon Network show, Detective Conan is pretty nice, and Case Closed is a WAY better title for the show. The rest is all meh, plenty of it's as bad as saturday morning Fox cartoons.

Samurai 7
2004-09-05, 4:18 AM #19
FLCL
Cowboy Bebop
Trigun
Excel Saga
Nadesiko (Nobody else has mentioned these two yet, they're very good)
DB
DBZ (most of you will hate them and the rest wont admit to liking them... personally, i love watching 30 episode long battles with stupid explosions and shouting and stills).
Love Hina
Tenchi
Kenshin
Neon Genesis Evangelion

Movies:

Akira
Metropolis
Spirited Away
Princess Mononoke
My Neighbour Totoro
Movies related to series above (like Cowboy Bebop)
Ninja Scroll
Some other movie about Ninjas similar to ninja scroll.

Let's see what I can come up with...

Things I own:
Rurouni Kenshin (though it doesn't exist after episode 62. especially if you've read the Jinchuu Arc of the manga. Also have the first OVA, because the second makes a false ending, the bastards.)
Slayers (all three seasons)
.hack//Sign (complements the games rather well)
Trigun
GTO
Gundam Wing
Love Hina
Cowboy Bebop
Akira
Ys (both the 7 episode part 1 and the 4 episode part 2)
Berserk
Starting to collect Initial D
Excel Saga on the way
Noir
Dragon Half
Spirited Away
Master of Mosquiton (both the OVA and the '99 TV Series)
Project A-ko
Starting to collect Azumanga Daioh
Starting to collect Gundam Seed
Golden Boy

Things sitting around taking up hard drive space:
Hajime no Ippo
One Piece
Jungle wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu
FFU
Naruto (Hopefully Soon. We'll see how my friend does for me.)

Edit: Almost forgot, I have Escaflowne... subbed... on VHS. Yeah, that was a fun night. Lots of pizza and caffiene.
Oh, and I have Outlaw Star. Man, I need to keep better track of what I own.

I've seen more, but it's starting to blur... on the other hand, I can say I've seen most of the Live Action GTO... or maybe like half of it.

Gundam > *

So far I've seen Mobile Suit Gundam, MSG 0083: Stardust Memory, MSG: Z, After War Gundam X, New Mobile Report: Gundam Wing and MSG: SEED.

First is the best, followed by 0083, Z, X, SEED and Wing. Wing is whack :|
VTEC just kicked in, yo!
2004-09-05, 7:47 AM #23
I like Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Gungrave, and Evangelion. yeah.
2004-09-05, 9:02 AM #24
I like these cartoons:

Princess Mononoke
My Neighbour Totoro
Kiki's Delivery Service
Record of Lodoss War
Akira
Ghost in the Shell
Cowboy Bebop: The Movie
Spirited Away (added :p)

...

I can't think of anything else, good night.

EDIT: Metropolis was pretty good too. I can't wait to see Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind when Disney releases it in its pure unbutchered form on DVD here in North America next January. I also want to see Howl's Moving Castle (I love Hayao Miyazaki). Yes, I also really love Grave of the Fireflies. And also, I want to see Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence. There are many others I like and/or enjoy, but I've only listed my favourites.

Ah yeah, and MirKx, formerly just Mircx... http://www.mirkx.com.nyud.net:8090/1.php

Heh, see alot of the same stuff. That can mean a combination of things... no good crap comes out anymore, people don't watch what just came out on a "mainstream" (must add I use that term loosely) level, or that there was an unsurpassable golden age.

Anyone ever watch Kino's Travels? If you did, whacha all think about it...

Some days, some nights...

Anyway, interesting link.

I might as well list my top 5:

Last Exile, Trigun, Love Hina, Full Metal Alchemist, and Scrapped Princess.

So many Gundum fans... I couldn't stand wing because of it's huge content of angsty teenagers. However Duo and What's-her-face (neither of the blondes, the lady with glasses and dark hair) were actually likable characters. Couldn't stand the main guy, whatever his name was.

On a final note, anyone watch, or even heard of, Robot Carnival? I'd be willing to wager a goose egg on that.

I have watched Kino's Travels and it was amusing
