Anyone ever seen this film? The film as a whole is slightly above average, but the "gun katas" are innovative and spectacular to watch!

ah yes.

i love the style where there's little or no slowmo at least not through the whole scene, and fights are over in less than 20 seconds. and when you build up a lot of anticipation in a movie fight and its over so fast, best thing ever.

I disagree. I think the gunfights in the original Matrix were better.

I have a question though, how does Preston make his guns slide out from his sleeves?

It's the future. Duh.

I loved the gunfights, especially the one with the guards.

Maybe you should ask your teacher... ;)

The music industry is a cruel and shallow money trench where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

er, they are stored on little arm mechanisms strapped to each arm. when they're activated, the arm pushes the guns out into his hands. didnt you see them fall out of taye digg's sleeves when they had their duel?

I thought the action was pretty entertaining, but the plot was painfully unoriginal.. It seemed like 1984, A Brave New World, and the Matrix had some crazy love-triangle baby, and the outcome was Equilibrium.

Yeah, exactly what Sai said. And why does Sean Bean always have to die? As soon as he walks onto a movie screen you know he's a gonner.

He was awesome in Troy. And not only that, but he wasn't killed once!

No, no, no... I totally get the Cloud/teacher reference. However, the reference is totally out of place and relates to nothing in the thread. So why exactly is GBK giving Cloud more random crap?

Whatever. I'm overreacting. I'm sure Cloud can defend himself. ;)

I thought it was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The gun fights weren't very good. Twenty guys with automatic weapons can't hit one dude who can only shoot three round burst, running in a straight line, shooting to his sides. The "sword fight" at the end was laughable (as a matter of fact, I did laugh). The very beginning seemed promising, then after 10 or so minutes, it became dull, boring, and almost painful. It cost me $3 to rent it. I feel robbed. The video clerk could have warned me.

The guns could be attached to a track that runs up the arms and shoulders, and bends at the elbow joints. Hit a button and the guns slide down into the hands. It would be farely easy to do probably, just make a mechanism and track to hook the guns onto. The only problem would be getting the guns to fall into the hands perfectly I guess.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

DUDE. How can you make a list like that and not include the most obvious one? The one that is all but creditied, seriously. Fahrenheit 451.

It was a great film, though some minor scenes were kind of bland. I think the gunfight in the dark though was awesome, best gunfight in a long time!

Btw, if you're wondering how 20 guys with automatic weapons can miss one guy and be taken down with dual 3-burst pistols, it's called gunkata training. They explained it in the film if you had paid attention...

They analyzed directions that people statistically fire and devised a system in which an individual could move using the gunkata method and stay out of the bullet patterns. Also just because he was armed with pistols, doesn't mean he didn't have superior aim to grunts.

Also, the mechanisms that allowed their pistols to spring out have actually been around since the wild west- though they're usually used with small pistols like Derringers. The spare magazines springing out from the sleeve into the gun was really cool though.

Bale had some really cool acting in this, can't wait to see that translated into Bruce Wayne!

Overall I really like the dark direction they went with it, like the woman still getting fried instead of the classic cliche of being rescued and yadda, yadda, yadda.

plus, since he was in the middle of a group of people, all shooting towards the middle but not hitting him... half the people could have been shot by eachother's bullets.

Its a while since i saw it but i was wondering about the whole emotion thing. They're not supposed to show emotion but you see some people regularly showing anger -surely thats an emotion?

Which is good, because once is generally all it takes.

Yeah, I actually did that for awhile, but eventually I just decided I needed a job with a better dental plan.

(I'm sure "you should fight crime" is an allusion to something, but I don't know what.)

Yeah, that was one inconsistency of the movie. I noticed that Taye Diggs smiled at times.

I'm just an ordinary member, GBK's an administrator....

I saw the holster mechanisms, but what I don't understand is how does the equipped person activate them? How does he "press the button", so to say? Like we know for instance that Spider-man activate his web shooter by applying pressure to his wrist. I watched the scene where Preston kill all those men, who suspected him of carrying a dog, in slow motion. I didn't see him pressing any buttons, the guns just slide out from under his sleeves.

What is "1984" about? Oh and why isn't there an official soundtrack available? I liked some of the ominous choral music (composed by Klaus Badelt, composer of "Pirates of the Carribean").

I got the impression that the drug only got rid of the extremes of emotion, the rest of the emotionless was due to the EVIL GOVERNMENT removing anything that was shown to produce an emotional response. A bit of fear thrown into the mix and you'd probably find yourself supressing almost all emotion. (I think the DVD extra features mentioned something about all this).

Since you don't get the joke, you're clearly missing the innuendo, unless of course i've found an inneundo that wasn't there, in which case I rock.

Cloud, GBK isn't an admin. He's a moderator, of the cog forum, he has no power here.
