Ok i got a microphone so that I can play counterstrike easier, what im wondering is what kind of software should I use to make it work? I have no idea how these things work.

Counter-Strike handles it itself, you press a key while playing and talk

Plug it in, look through the counter strike bound keys and options, bind it to your favorite button (I prefer mouse3), and there you go. In game click it and speak. Make sure you know it's range as to where you will and will not be heard.

the problem with microphones in CS is everyone wants to get right on top of their cheap pc mics and yell

The problem with mics and CS is every 4 year old feels like using theirs.
