What is your Favorite Language, and Why?

And we aren't talking Espanol, Francais, or Latina here.

I'm honestly curious what programming languages people like to use, and why. Most people, if they do know a language, probably know more than one, although they still might have a preference as to which one is most efficient or best suits their needs and style. So please, if you had to choose, vote off you're #1! :D

Of course I have to say cog, not only because it was my first, but because it was just so kakking sexy. Next to that, Perl.

Does PHP go in the "Other" column, or is it a varient of CGI or something?

Also, 'CGI' isnt really a language. You can write CGI scripts in any language, even thought its usually Perl.
And when the moment is right, I'm gonna fly a kite.

I'm made out of CGI. I love SQL more than pies, which come second in my love list, and then there's people i love, but that's not as important :rolleyes:

Wanted PHP, but picked C++ since it's nice and PHP is very similar to it in many aspects.

C++: because I like it more than Delphi or VB. :p As for server side scripting languages: PHP.

Well you should have got rid of XML and replaced HTML/CSS with XHTML/CSS. XML is just a standardised markup language, it doesn't actually do anything. So is XHTML/CSS, but at least it serves a purpose on it's own.

XHTML is just HTML updated to incorporate the markup rules in XML and a few other things.
