Out on DVD in the UK and in theatres in the States (I think).

Buy/go see it now.

And if you live in the UK you should also buy the Spaced box-set on DVD. Even if you don't own a DVD player.

Yeah, it came out months ago in the UK and there was probably a thread about it then, but seeing it again on DVD reminded me how great it was

I guess it will be playing in the theaters here (states). Saw the preview the other night when I watched open water. Looks good but I would like you (Niall) to expound on it abit, if you will.

Looks hilarious. Definately on my 'To See' list.

Basically the easiest way of describing it is "A romantic comedy with zombies"- it's really more about people than about killing zombies, but that still happens a lot.

The rather cool thing is that it's not a Scary Movieish spoof- the actual zombies, slow and shambling as they are (just as they were in the original Romero flicks), are rarely the butt of the jokes- they're still hideous, flesh devouring undead creatures, rather than something to take the piss out of. It's still a comedy and isn't really a scary film at all (though there are some cool gory moments).

And for those who care, the direction is also brilliant- definitely a step up not just from British comedies, but from pretty much most British films since Trainspotting.

I watched the trailer the other day, looked funny. Perhaps I will see it, despite your reccomendation.

I'm still waiting for it to come out in Finland. Meh. I hope they haven't skipped the release, YLE did show the series a year ago and I've got the box set too. It really is a great series.

Any other spaced references besides one of the zombies being Tyres, the bicycle courier? (saw it in Empire Magazine)
If it breaks, you get to keep both pieces.

I saw signs for that when I went to London a few months back. Looked sooo hilarious

I saw it at the cinema over here, and it was...ok. I was never a fan of Spaced though, and I've been seriously influenced by the complete lack of British films in the cinemas, I kept wondering why my TV looked so big!!
It was funny though, and worth seeing, though I don't think I'll be buying it.

One of the best films i've seen in a long time... an excellent mix of comedy and horror that actually works together well.

I advise everyone watches it, i found it thoroughly enjoyable.

A few. Jessica Stevenson pops up in it, as does "Marsha" and they use the phrase "fried gold" several times. Mainly though it just has the same "feel" as Spaced- camera movement, dialogue, bizarre little actions (like rifling through a record collection to find ones to throw at zombies).

The point is not only was it a better FILM than DotD it was also SCARIER than DotD. Like that bit where they look out the post box and they can't see any zombies then go "Wait there over there" was much better than when the woman gets cut in half by the chain saw in Dawn.
