Affiliate Program

In the next few days or weeks, I'm going to put some SMALL ad banners on the forums (in addition to the Recon Gamer banner which will be back soon). When I say small, I mean like 88x31 (the little buttons) or maybe a little bigger). This serves TWO PURPOSES:

1. I'm rewriting the affiliate program code for my boss and I need a site that allows me to test properly (and what better site than my own?).

2. Perhaps Massassi will earn a bit of money to reimburse me for the cost of the new forums :)

This came about because when the new forums showed up and started tracking views, I realized that the forums are STILL, after all these years, getting like a million page views a month (based on performance of the past couple of days). That's insane! I never realized...

Second, I finished a lot of the major projects at my job and the affiliate program needs reworking.

PLEASE NOTE: Affiliate programs work like this: If you click the link from Massassi, a cookie will be stored on your computer for a certain amount of time (in this case it's 24 hours, most affiliate programs are more like a month or 90 days). This cookie contains an "affiliate id number" which identifies MASSASSI to the other site (it doesn't identify you personally). If you then purchase something, Massassi (me since I represent Massassi) gets paid a percentage of the sale (in this case 3-5%).

It only works if you make a purchase, so don't bother clicking the links a hundred times just to help us out, because it won't help us out, QUITE THE OPPOSITE!

Please feel free to express your opinion. This is still up in the air so I may not do it if it will bother people (THE goal of massassi is not to make money).

Is this the same deal that Sideshow Collectables wanted to make? Or is it something new?

I fit helps out Massassi and the ads aren't obnoxious or anything, that's cool

You payed for these forums, out of your own pocket, for everyone here to use for free...as far as I'm concerned, you can put a 1000 pixel-wide XFL logo at the top of every board if you want.

Really...in my opinion, you shouldn't even have to ask about doing something like this (however, the fact that you did ask is testament to what a stand-up guy you are, and that kind of attitude is probably a pretty good indication of why this place still gets a million hits a day.)

If it helps you out, that's reason enough for us to let you post the ads. If it helps out Massassi, well that's just a pleasant bonus for us.

DS: it's the company I work for... similar to them but possibly a lot less lucrative. I'm still thinking about that, depending on how this goes.

I wouldn't mind at all, I think it'd be a good thing. I just voted no for fun... sorry

It wouldn't bother me.

I absolutely agree with Tyler.

Though I would prefer a little smaller than 1000 pixels... ;)

Go for it.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.
