oh man... went to it last night. awesome movie. i think they did nemesis perfectly, and with barely any CG, too. just on the close ups of his face, which were very well done anyways, so it was nice. funny in the right places, too. bunch of places where someone who played the games would "OMG YES!!" over.

just.. damn... that was just plain good. cant wait for the next... 4 movies they're making? :) sadly i dont think they'll end up making all of them, but it would be cool.

I heard it sucked worse then the first one...which I really thought was hard to do. I have the first one, but I mean the acting sucked, WTF was with the nudity? Bad actor choice, the worst CGI I've ever seen, the creatures looked like claymation...but it entertained me even though I knew it sucked bad. I'm still seeing RE:A tonight though. I'll judge for myself then.

So basically for a movie based on a game, it's not that bad?
2004-09-11, 12:37 PM #4
worse? no way in hell. i didnt think the first one sucked... but 2 is definately not worse than 1. its a different kinda setting, too. not so much trapped in an underground facility as trying to get out of an infected city.

The acting was subpar at best. At the end, the Nemesis plays a part in a rather ridiculous, cheesy part where he realizes he loves Mila Jovovich's character and can't kill her. The firefights are boring, and none of the characters are worth caring about.

It wasn't very good, but I enjoyed myself nevertheless. It was better than the first one, that's for sure. But what is with the hand to hand fights? A bunch of movies today have the action sequences with cameras that jump all over the place, so you can figure out what's happening, you have a general idea of who's winning, but that's it. Luckily, it was only for parts.

The acting wasn't very good, but I think it was better than the first. It did get rather ridulous, (the motorcycle part) and what Wolfy said about Nemesis is true. I thought the ending went on for a bti too long as well. Overall, it was a decent movie, and if you like the first one at all, you will like this one more.

This movie is so sh**ty it doesn't deserve spoiler warnings. Nobobdy should go see this f**k of a movie.

Hmm, I think some of us still live in a world where fluff action movies are taken for just that... fluff action.

Lighten up.

see thats the kinda ignorant crap that sadly, the internet brings out in people. the movie wasnt stab-your-eyes-out-with-a-fork bad, unless you cold heartedly hate video game/sci fi movies. and if you do, no one cares about your opinion on the subject anyways.

I haven't gotten to the theater yet, but I'm definitely going to see it. I've been looking forward to this sequal ever since I saw the first movie in theaters.

Between this and Shaun of the Dead, September looks like a good month for zombie fans.

Yeah, I've noticed that too (AvP had it in virtually every fight). Has every good editor in Hollywood just died or something?

I just came back. My brother saw it before me

"One of the top ten worst films I've ever seen blah blah blah" And since RottenTomatoes rated it worse then RE I was really worried.

I thought it was freaking awesome. I don't give a flying crap about the acting, it was fine for what it was. The action was just plain cool even though it was so unrealistic baby jesus cried. The only things I didn't like was the random black guy that said "motha' f***er' every second, and was supposed to add 'humor' but he just ruined the mood of the film, and nudity. No need for it, at all. I mean it didn't piss me off because it was nudity, it was just like they tried so hard to have it in the film. Both of them had it, both could have gone without. The games didn't have it, the movies didn't need it. The action was just plain cool except the Nemesis fight in which the camera didn't stay still for more then a 1/2 second, litteraly. A HUGE HUGE HUGE improvement from the first, I really enjoyed myself, and if you aren't a critical person that rips the crap out of movies you'll enjoy it too.

oh man, i loved the black guy. "oh man you got bit, too! man i was hanging around with you, why didnt you tell me!?"

I didn't like it as much as the first one, but It certainly didnt suck. It suffered from bad acting in spots, but overall I enjoyed it.

This film blew big putrid chunks all over the place. I was actually rooting for the zombies. Seriously, you have no reason to care about the human characters b/c their acting is so poor and sems to be utterly devoid of emotion.

Yet another zombie flick. 2004 seems to be the Year of the Zombie.
2004-09-11, 11:31 PM #19
I thought it was a fairly decent action flick, although I'm still upset they didn't bring back Manson for the score. Why does everyone hate the black guy? I thought he was hilarious. "GTA mother****er! 10 points!" :D
2004-09-12, 11:31 AM #20
The first movie was abit better I thought but I enjoyed this sequel. I don't really like the direction they're taking the series. More towards action than the suspense of the games but they're still fun.

Those stupid camera jumps have always irritated me. The first big US movie I remember that did it was Batman Forever. I prefer to see the action. The camera was fine in Resident Evil but that was a different director.

Meh. I could live without manson, very easily. His music just doesn't appeal to me.

Get Trent Reznor to do the score, then we're talking, even though I don't really like NIN either, he did awesome on iD's games (though I think he only did Quake, I may be mistaken)

Thanks for spoiling it for me. You think you could warn people before that next time maybe? Just because you didn't enjoy the film doesn't mean other people would.

I love zombie movies so I really cant judge this one impartially. It reminded me of 28 Days Later with a couple of guns and mini-skirts.

I liked it a lot better than the first one.

(28 Days Later and Dead Alive being my favorite zombie-movies)

I thought there were just really cheesy parts, like basically every scene where Milla saved the day. I mean seriously...Jill was a badass in the game, why didn't they use her more? Made me mad. :(

Me and my friend enjoyed it a lot more than we thought we would. The movie was way better than the first one. I love how they used an actor for Nemesis instead of making him 3D.

This year has been quite good for sequels. Just about every sequel I've seen this year hasn't sucked. Not a bad year for movies IMO.

Consider:

a) It's a thread discussing the movie

b) You can see that part coming from a mile away when watching the movie

It's not like you have no warning in either case.

You can have a movie thread without spoilers... Just because you're discussing a movie which was JUST RELEASED, doesn't mean you have to have spoilers.

You should consider:

1. There are other people in the world aside from you, that may want to discuss or hear opinions about a movie BEFORE going to see it, however, do not want to have it spoiled.

2. If you feel the need to post a spoiler, in a thread that has not clearly defined its topic title as "RESIDENT EVIL: SPOILERS ALLOWED" or something to that degree, at least have the decency to let people know you're about to reveal a plot point that they may or may not know about. Or want to know about, until after seeing the film.
2004-09-13, 2:33 PM #32
How exactly are you going to discuss a movie without spoiling it, exactly?

Well there was one good part where some stuff happens, but then some other stuff happened, and I didn't like the part where some stuff happened, and at the end, when that stuff happened, it was kinda dumb, but overall it was a movie.
2004-09-13, 2:39 PM #33
You'd discuss any othe rmovie in the same way you'd discuss Episode 3, whereas if someone were to post a spoiler of Episode 3 most ppl here would go nuts OMGWRTFYOUPOSTEDSPOILERS!!!!!!!U@#Y@!U#Y@#111111

That's how.

Who cares about that? It's the same friggin thing as the whole "Don't post animal cruelty pictures".. Though YOU may find it funny, some might not appreciate it. Even though they may click the thread and read it. The thread title did not say "SPOILERS ALLOWED" or "Spoilers inside".. It says "Resident Evil: Apocalypse"...Does that clearly state anything about spoilers? NO. Thank you.

There was no warning in the thread title, and as well warnings from you.. I believe the admins already posted a message about this a loooong time ago, saying you should list a warning before you post spoilers.

Wow, what a concept.

I don't think it's unreasonable that someone ask that there be spoiler warnings but it still seems like reader beware. Hell, I've been criticized for giving away a major spoiler for a movie that I've never seen!

In this case, I didn't take the Nemesis thing as a major spoiler because I think it was misrepresented a bit. I see it as .... uh, yeah, spoiler ahead... just recognition of the Milla character by the one we know become Nemesis from the previous film. I certainly wouldn't say "love". Simply put, there was enough recognition there to jar what humanity remained.

I never understood the popularity of the movie. For some reason, I just didn't like it at all. No particular reason, just didn't like it. Didn't like the games either really. Will not be seeing this one until someone rents it on DVD at my house.

i thought it kicked *** guys. My favorite part was the STARS guys all hiding out and the guy on the roof with his sniper rifle throwin it back get wasted... im tellin yeah if zombies overan my city thas what id be doing... Besides some stupid parts the movei had a cool feeling and made me jump and laugh and enjoy myself and was worth my money. I am a huge fan of the games but regaurdless this movie was cool. The part where the Umbrella Agents are surrounded in the middle of the street is ****in sweet. If only they made a tactical squad shooter against zombies.... Rainbow Six 4: Racoon City

::chills::

go see it if you liked the first one at all
