Canada has eliminated The Czech Republic to meet Finland in the Final on Tuesday Night at 4:00pm Eastern, 7:00pm Pacific.

Canada played a horrible game against the Czechs, and if they stand a hope in hell against Finland, they really better smarten up...Go to World Cup Hockey

Four hours...!

I haven't been this excited about hockey since...Finnish hockey league's playoffs early this year. :D

I know we're the underdog, quite distinctively so. If we lose an entertaining game, though, I'll be happy after the disappointment wears off.

It's good that the Canadian media and fans seem so sure of their victory. I hope your players feel that way too. :)
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

Uh, it was 2-1. Could have been worse. They played like crap against Canada and Russia in the groups stage though.

Sadly, this is all the hockey I'm going to get for some time because the strike is coming :(

stupid lockout
2004-09-14, 1:04 PM #19
Yeah, this lockout is the worst thing EVER! Possible no hockey until the new year?! GRAAH!
2004-09-14, 1:41 PM #20
I've been fired up about this game since saturday. I'm sad that this may be the last hockey I'll see except for the occasional Oceanic games with Sydney Crosby(!) at Rimouski. stupid lockout. it's going to ruin a lot of teams. it did the same damn thing in the baseball lockout some years ago.

Various different levels... I live in Ontario, and when I played hockey I lived in Scarborough, which is in Toronto. We had the MTHL (metro toronto hockey league), the SHA (scarborough hocket association), Junoir A, B and C... World, International, and Country teams......

I played in the MTHL at the AA (double A) levels. As well as house league, and the SHA.

The levels are usually designed like this, skill wise:

House League
SHA - Equal to MTHL Double A, sometimes Triple A skills
MTHL - A, Double A, Triple A
Junior
NHL

I could have gone junior, however elected out of it on account of my size at the time. (I used to be small, before I began to work out).

Bah, how could it possibly be a World Cup when there are no countries from the Southern Hemisphere competing.
Rock is dead - but I believe in necrophilia.
2004-09-15, 10:22 AM #31
Could be because 70% of the dry landmass on Earth is in the Northern Hemisphere, and most of the southern Hemisphere's land lies near the equator, with the exception of the Antarctic, which I don't believe has a large enough population to support a national hockey team.

Okay, I'm nerded out.

Finland's second goal was amazing. Tuomo Ruutu literally plowed through 3 of team Canada's players and outshot Brodeur. even though Canada won, that goal is the best goal of the whole game.
