And it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It showed a different side to the predators-- they were portrayed as creatures that would respect you a little if you proved yourself worthy by killing a xenomorph.

However, I missed the blue human-hunting mode that was present in the first predator movie (haven't seen the second) and in the games. I like how they finally implemented the speargun weapon from the games. (or that's how it looked to me when the preds killed everyone in the base camp and pinned that guy to the wall)


One thing I also missed was the gruesome death scenes that are typical in the previous aliens movies, but I got over it.



Did anyone else besides me actually like this movie?

I too liked it for what it was, a summer popcorn flick. Nothing more. And in what other movie can you see Predators fight Aliens? The novelty was what "sold" the movie for me.

The director's cut of the movie is supposed to be a lot better. The studio cut the hell out of the movie for the theater release. I can't wait to se that.

I loved the movie. The Spear Gun is used in Predator 2 a few times actually. Alot of the weapons used in the games come from either movie. The only thing in the games that weren't in either movie would be the blaster pistol and the explosive charges. The disc, stick and net gun are in both movies.

The movie is based heavily on the comic book that came out in the early 90s on AvP. The original AvP, not those AvP Race War or whatever. It took place on another planet though, and the Predator would use the planets animals to breed with the Aliens and fight them for fun. The thing was though they didn't expect the humans to be there and it threw everything off. It was a mining colony or something. And a female sides with the Predator, fights the aliens, wins and then gets the mark put on her forehead so if the Predator were to return to the planet, they would know that she was one of them.

I figured something like that would happen in this movie though, one of the characters would side with a Predator. After all, they are shown to be much more intelligent, especially in Predator 2 when the creature saw the female he was about to kill was pregnant and let her go.

When the predator teamed up with that girl instead of killing her an already bad movie went down the toilet. I was honestly expecting them to kiss at the end, WTF. Also somewhat surprising Mr. Italian, that figured out the entire temple by 1 or 2 sentences of an intermix of 3 dead languages that he could translate instantly, didn't figure out what the 3 "relics" were, even though a blind dog could quite easily tell they were guns, if not shoulder-mounted cannons. This movie was almost worse than The Day After Tomorrow.

Maybe that was his problem: lack of canine, excess of sight.

Maybe Mikus sucks at rating movies. Didn't he hate Apocalypse?

Well, I too liked the movie. Granted, the plot was predictable (They made the comic into a book as well, which I was reading before I saw the movie,so I kinda guessed the plot a bit.) Anyway, the reason it wasn't as bloody was cause it was rated PG-13, instead of R.

But yeah, I love people who go to the movies, and they leave disappointed that they wasted 20 dollars.

No, idiot, you wasted 8 dollars, most likely, and then paid too much for food and drink. Not the movie's fault you can't go 2 hours without food and drink. Also, if you go into a movie expecting it to be bad, why do you complain afterwards? YOU'RE the one that paid for the movie you figured would be crap. Either way, you spent what, ten bucks? Not all that much in the scheme of things.

I love people who act jerky for no reason. He's allowed to not like the movie.

Mikus, as far as the relic things go, you gotta realize, shoulder mounted cannons don't exactly exist in the world today. We knew what they were because we have seen Predator and Predator 2 or played the games. They however are in a temple that is thousands of years old and don't know about Predators. So naturally they wouldn't look and go "OMG its a shoulder cannon used by an alien race to hunt."

...I liked it. The predators have always been pretty merciful to humans that prove themselves. Like Predator 2. They let him live in that because he killed one of them and lived. Now, no one has anything to bash about Predator 2, right? That was, after all, one of the movies AvP was based off. :p
