Physicists Create Molecule...

An ARTIFICIAL molecule that is. I really have no idea what's going on here, but it seems as if they stuck a photon onto a fake atom and somehow that's a molecule.

I really need to get my own blog, and stop using the Massassi forums...

Scientists have been "creating molecules" for the last 40 years. Most of the last lines of your periodic table are artificially created elements (usually with names like unununium and the like).

No, this is something quite different, binding a particle of light onto an artificial superconductor. I'm not sure whether how useful this will be to quantum computers, but it sure is an interesting interaction of light and matter.

they can use it to make industructable things

Mort--for some reason you're mistaken, somewhere. Atom!=Molecule. Though they have indeed been creating molecules and atoms for quite some time.

Yeah, basically they took a photon, bound it to an atom, and bam, Qubit. Old news, btw :p

Laughing at my spelling herts my feelings. Well laughing is fine actully, but posting about it is not.

If you don't understand the concept of the particle theory of Light, and haven't taken chemistry/physics, you're going to have a helluva time trying to understand it.
