System specs:

P4 2.4 Ghz

256 Mb RAM

GeForce 2 MX400 (64 mb)

52x CD-ROM drive

Anything else?

If those are your specs, you arent going to have fun running BF1942.

Anyway, I didnt like it. Too big and boring for my tastes.

It's a great game. If you want a demo, get the multiplayer, not the single-player demo -- it's so bug ridden that I nearly did not buy it.

That said, the game can run just fine on pings up to and about 110 -- which can't be said of popular games like Counter-Strike. The vehicles sync well, and the gameplay manages to stay balanced (i.e., neither side's vehicles or guns are more powerful). Its two add-on packs, Road to Rome and Secret Weapons of World War II, add innumerable more vehicles, weapons, and maps.

I give the thing an A.

It's like the best-known WW2 game...ever... Where have you been?

Upgrade your video card, and you'll run it just fine. I wouldn't suggest getting Vietnam with those specs though--it's far far more demanding.

Seriously, that video card sucks man. I don't know why people buy AWESOME computers, get a crappy video card, and somehow wonder why they can't play games all that well. *sigh*

You can probably get the whole set for $40 or less these days. Tons of maps, weapons, and vehicles and then there are all the mods.

Oh shut up. People are entitled to their opinion, and quite frankly, I'm sick of people pushing theirs on me, and pushing mine on them. The only time I correct someone is when they have an opinion for the wrong reason (ask finity5).

Uh... You know my specs (600 mhz etc) and I run BF1942 extremly smoothly (Minimum is like, 400 mhz, 128 RAM and 32 mb video card)

Also, EDIT: Get the deluxe edition, that includes road to rome. RTR is really fun. BTW, Don't get desert combat, the community is filled with over-patriotic people, and the classes suck. Get BFPirate. That is the best mod ever.

BATTLEFIELD 1942:

Awsome, very awsome. So much fun.

Now for the mods:

Desert Combat

Galactic Conquest

Interstate '82

BUY IT.

However, Vietnam has potential modding that shall come out soon as well...

Oh yeah, and Battlefield Modern Combat will suck :)
