A few weeks ago I got done reading the autobiography American Soldier by Ret. General Tommy Franks. I highly recommend this book to everyone, especially those interesting in military functions.
The first half of the book is about his childhood, college(which he flunked out of his first time), his service in Vietnam, Germany, Korea, and a few other places.
The second half is about Operations Desert Storm, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom(the latter two in which he was the commanding general). It's very interesting to see the differences in the military from Vietnam to now and how strategy and tactics have changed so drastically. It's amazing.
After this book you will also gain a new loathing of the media. I know I have.
Go get this book. Now.
Also, did you know "woot" is an army expression?
