It's the best CPU in the XP line I believe. They haven't gone over 3200 yet for the XPs, have they? It runs at 2.2GHz I believe.

My athlon is 2700+ and runs at 2.16 Ghz
A 3200+ should run at about 2.2 Ghz

I've got a 3400+, and it runs at about 2.2

But it's a 64-bit, so the clock speeds might be different.

To be honest, for that much money, you could get an AMD 64 w/ Motherboard.

Clock speed means jack **** for an Athlon. The numbers they use are almost equivalent to their Intel counterparts.

To illustrate, my Athlon 64 2800 runs at 1.8ghz, yet it outperforms a Pentium 4 2.8ghz, even though the Pentium runs at a full gig faster. It's all about the architecture of the chips.

Almost. And there have been 1-day sales of 50 dollar nForce3 motherboards. Good ones too.

Oh, it's a fairly good processor. To get better, expect to shell out a lot of money... The Athlon XP 3200+ is very well matched for the Pentium 4 3.2Ghz, and is easily more powerful than the Prescott 3.2Ghz (While the Prescott core is weaker than the Northwood core, the Northwood can only go up to 3.4 Ghz, and the Prescott should reach 4.0 Ghz by the year's end)

Get 64 bit!

I hope this list was somewhat helpful to somebody here... Else that's 10 minutes of my life that I want back!

Anyway, I wonder what percentage of Massassians use 64-bit processors (A64, A64FX, ASempron, G5)? It seems to be more prevalent than with the "normal" populace...

that was helpful, but you can have the ten minutes back. ;)
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
