A student I know showed her new "tongue piercing" to a small group of her friends. It seems she actually went through the operation to put some metal though her tongue. I, personally, don't find that type of piercing really attractable or cool. Is it easily removable by the person? How do you eat with it on?

I assume all bodily piercing is a sense of fashion and expression (or whatever.) But the one type that actually annoys me is the one with the tongue. The ones on the face look...painful.

I would never pierce anything... I just don't see the point in it.

i got my eyebrow done and last night i just got my cartlage done

the eyebrow i didnt feel a thing. the cartlage (ear) though hurt like a mother

As far as I know, the tongue is one of the most painful ones to get, apart from the cartilege at the top of your ear and stuff. As for eating with it, you just get used to it being there, like wearing braces. It closes over really quickly, taking it out is just a matter of unscrewing the little ball and it heals over in a matter of hours. You'd probably be left with a scar for quite a while, don't know if it's permanent.

Yes. Fashion isnt the only reason people get their tongues pierced. Its also done to enhance stimulation during... certain activities.

But I did know a guy who had his erm...yeah pierced. He said he took it out eventually but eh, brave brave man, cuz you know that had to hurt

Besides the ear, there is only one piercing that I think is attractive at all, and that is having a tiny diamond on one side of the nose. Everything else borders on unattractive to me.

Haha, ya know I didn't really sit down and get into it with him. My friend (Kenny was his name) had told me he had had it done the year before. I dont even remember how we got on the topic. I think he took it out cuz he said the girls didnt' like it because at "other times" it was uncomfortable.

Dunno he was a cool guy he was in this band called "Losers Play Fair" and well he was funny as hell, but why he went and did that I will never know. I think belly button piercings on girls are alright, tongue piercings are alright, some guys with lip piercings are cool.

My friend John recently had his lip pierced on the middle of the bottom lip, and it looks hot. ANd sometimes eyebrow piercings look good too. But piercing down there...ouch, and I dont think it'd be too attractive, eh I dunno just my opinon, diff. strokes for diff. folks right:p

I have sometimes wondered if the ring shaped lip piercings don't cause you to drip saliva if you are not paying attention. That wouldn't be too cool.

I have my tongue pierced twice. I've posted the pic on here once or twice before.

It's really a culture thing. Alot of people don't understand why, and it's not my job to make them understand. But just the same, the people who don't understand piercings do a great many things that I find stupid and pointless.

Tongue piercings are probably the easiest piercings to get as far as pain and discomfort go (you wouldn't think so, huh?). Yeah, it swells up and makes eating awkward for a few days (especially in my case, where it was doubly so), but it's nothing compared to even a simple cartilage piercing or nose piercing.

Piercing is a very big part of my life. I've performed a multitude of different piercings before (eyebrow, ear stretching, industrials, vertical lobes and a few more) under the supervision of a professional and experienced piercer (one of my friends). I'm also debating on seeking a full apprenticeship so I could maybe do it as a profession for a short bit.

I could give you guys some good information on Frenums and Prince Alberts (male genital piercings), but I'm not sure it's appropriate for massassi. I doubt anyones all that curious, but feel free to pm/im/email me if you are heh.....bleh

yeah in the past I had really considered getting my tongue pierced but I always chicken out. I think it looks cute on some girls but it's jsut the stories I hear about sometimes the piercings becoming infected or ehh. And how hard it is at first. I dont know.

I dont know I'm not one for much pain, the most I've done was well of course I have ear piercings but I hardly wear earrings, but I got a small tattoo. I thought it would look tacky if I got a big one, and it was a little small one to kind of show my personality. But it hurt like a mofo getting it done. I got it on my lower stomach/hip. Oh the pain!

The tattoo artist was like "damn you are taking this pretty well, this is one of the most sensitive area's to get a tattoo. I've been working on my own and I have to always stop, it will prob. take me a couple of months to complete it because it hurts so bad and is so big" and I turned to him and I was like "yeah well it feels like you are carving into my flesh" and he goes "well hun, I basically am" haha that hurt enough for me to do anything for a while. I couldnt even sit down for a while because my skin was so sensitive I remember having to lay down as opposed to sit, and clothing touching my skin was excruciating, but I love the tat. so in the end it's all worth it [/end rant]

I can almost guarantee that your tattoo hurt 10x more than a standard tongue piercing. I personally know several guys with tongue piercings, though I do live in a very liberal area and I'm sure that affects it.

i know someone who got 2 in the tongue... then had to take them out because his tongue started to split

I've got my left ear pierced, but that's all. I don't see the big deal with people piercing their bodies....It's my body, I can do what I want with it. If that means adding or taking away a few holes, then so be it. Who are you to judge?

Mine are side by side in the front. One in each of the two muscles. This is different from most tongue piercings where the bar is placed in the center of the tongue between the two muscles (which, if the piercing is big enough or there's enough of them, would possibly cause splitting over time)

Besides, they're more "functional" this way...

Exactly! That almost sounds word for word of what I told my father after I showed him my tat. He got so mad. i was like listen I'm 20, almost 21 it's my body what I do with it is my decision. He really had nothing else to say, besides the fact taht he doesnt want it showing in the house.


And OUCH about the tongue splitting. for some reason when you said that I had a flash back to that one Freddy Krueger movie when his tongue got split. Ouch. I've seen pix of that on piercing websites though. People who actually split their tongues because that's what they want, not because it accidently happened.Ouch:eek:

My friend pierced her own nipple. Crazy nut. She said she put her *ehems* on ice for a while then shoved a needle right through. OUCH!!!!! It makes baby jesus cry.

lmao! yes I think it would make baby jesus cry. But yeah they have to do that to be able to pierce the area. So they use ice, plus I think it also numbs the area as well (at least somewhat) I'm not quiet sure

I heard from a friend when you get your tounge pierced it doesn't hurt at all, but it's the thing you do before you get pierced that sucks. She said she had to gargle mouthwash for a full 2 mins before they pierced it. Her tounge was pretty much numb by then, but she said that 2 mins went by very very slow.

The only piercing that seems attractive to me is the belly button. That nipple thing almost made me cry:eek:

Using a non-alcohol based mouthwash (like dental wash or tek2000) you want to rinse for 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Then, the most painful part, you get a nice clamp on your tongue. The antiseptic stuff that I've had expierence with also has a slight numbing effect in your mouth, so if you're lucky and they're using it you'll be partially numb. Then they stick you pretty quick, it's over, and you'll start swelling immediately.

Listen guys, I don't care if you are going to talk about peircings and whatnot, just KEEP IT CLEAN. Seriously, you all should know better than that. (Or at least I hope you do)
