Ok, this sucks. I have four classes this semester in college, and three of them are pretty easy. This fourth one though is a MAJOR problem.

It's Western Heritage, and the prof. I have combined with the class is supposed to be one of the harder classes. (It meets M W F.) Ok, I think, it'll still be cool. I'm a good student. There are 20-25 people the first day in class.

I do the 50+ pages reading material for the first night and briefly look over the key terms that will be on the quiz the next day (there's a quiz at the start of every class session).

I get a 4/10 on the quiz.

Ok, I think, I just didn't know how the quiz was gonna be like, I'll do better next time.

5/10.

3/10.

6/10.

By this point about 1/2 the students have dropped the class. Only 10 of us left.

These are the only grades I have in the class so far. Not too good. So, I go to a study group thing (called an "SI") two days ago to hopefully help. It helps me get a 7/10 (I think) on today's quiz.

Now, whoever in the class who has an average lower an a C at this point is recommended to drop the class. I have what, an F? (This is a first for me, I'm usually all As and Bs.)

But I have a few problems with dropping the class. The first one is that this semester would be a breeze without it, and I am concerned where this class would fit in in my remaining semesters here (I am a sophmore right now). It's a core class, so I'll have to take SOMETHING to substitute for it eventually.

Also, if I keep the class, I have to keep in mind that if my GPA drops below 3.2 (currently it's 3.5), I lose my $7k/yr scholarship, the only one I have. (School tuition is 19k/yr.)

SYMPATHISE WITH ME. Or, give me advice... .'/

SORRY, IT'S THE WEEKEND, I'M DONE LEARNING...

Well, after I do my Western Heritage reading, that is. :(

[Edit: Thanks for the sympathies. Now, any advice?]

If it's either go an extra semester or lose your scholarship, just do the math. It's far more worth it to drop. Don't be afriad to drop in college, everyone does it, and in this case, you've got a very good reason! :D (BTW, that sucks. A quiz that tough EVERY class? Youch)

Yeah, I suppose dropping it, although an option I have NEVER considered before, might be the only reasonable choice...

I'll talk it over with my family first. I just hope they don't say "Well stay in the class and try harder." because I AM trying harder without success. :(

Oh, and the first test is Monday. I can't wait to see how badly I fail it. :p

I am having similar problems in pre calc now. First few assignments seemed easy enough (they were review) and then one of them was just hard as hell, and I started slipping after that. Now I am about 4 assignments behind, and were talking 80-100 problems per assignment. I got a B+ on the first quiz, and then a C on the first chapter test. So yeah... :(

Personally..I wouldnt drop it. I have this thing about never taking a W ever. But on the other hand, that got me my only C on my transcript the reason I have a 3.4 GRRRRRRRRR

An F!!! I ought to spank you, wait till i tell your mother!
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Ubuu, a W's sure as hell better than an F. A B or a C, that's debatable. But not an F.

$19 000 a year?

I'm annoyed at paying about $2 500 a year.

Oh yes... and if I drop this class... I go below the 12 credit hour minimum needed to keep my scholarship.

Maybe you still have time to sign up for another class? I know a few weeks have probably already passed, but if it's an option, and you talk to the prof. you are thinking of getting into... it might be worth looking into?

Man, how can I rag on you about not posting on NeS after this? :(

Can you get a tutor to help you out? Ask the teacher for some sage advice?
