What is your favorite season?
2004-09-18, 5:22 PM #1
It would be nice if you could give a reason why, but you don't have to. For me, it's a close race between spring and fall, but I'm going to have to say fall. I just love fall. I like the weather, the leaves, the beauty. (I just had to make this poll for two reasons, so don't kill me. 1) I felt cheated after I clicked on SAJN's season thread, because I thought it was this thread, and 2) I've never done a poll before. :D )

P.S. For you Australians and anyone else who might be in the southern hemisphere, this is the northern hemisphere version, so if your favorite season is winter, then choose summer. If your favotire season is fall, then choose spring, so we can get some accurate results. Thanks. :D

The Summer-Autumn transition period, where the breeze is just right, it's never to cold or two warm, it's just perfect, and you feel so great, you just want to stay outside all day and forget about all your troubles.
Think while it's still legal.

Spring: not as stinkingly hot as summer, not as rain infested as winter, and not as unpredictable as autumn.

mid-late fall, right before the first snow falls and there's no green leaves left. The temperature isn't too cold, but cold enough to wear something light and be comfy, cold enough to sleep like a baby. There's always a nice wind, the smell of burning leaves, the crackling sound as you walk on them.

As for the other seasons? Summer is too hot (40 to 50c). Winter is too cold (-40 to -50c). Spring is half-melted snow and ice everywhere. You walk on what looks like stable snow only to sink and find your feet submerged in a foot deep of icy-cold water. Fun fun fun!

I pretty much like all of them for different reasons, but I chose winter because I love sweaters and curling up and reading a book and other things of that nature. My second favorite would have to be fall, love the weather, looks beautiful, ect...

actually...winter and fall are pretty close...I tihnk I might like fall better...bah!

Fall -- the smells, the sights, the noises, the lack of bugs, it's not hot... my second favorite would be winter though. The cold is so much better than the heat.

Summer. Nothing beats watching the cricket or premier league lounging on the couch wearing shorts and drinking a beer.

I actually agree with you there.

Call me a weirdo, but my best days have been spent on the couch reading all day. I remember going through my entire library in one snowstorm.

Though I don't enjoy hot chocolate so much...now warm apple cider, THAT is win.

Well, there might be creepy crawlies, but at least there aren't many of the flying variety. Those are the ones I really don't like.

All seasons are good in some way. My favourite is summer--the nights are beautiful. Spring is everything worth living for. Fall is nice and calm. Winter is depressing and cold, but when it is particularly snowy, especially during a storm and you have somewhere warm and safe to be, it is great.

I really enjoy Fall. As I'm not yet done my learning career, Fall is still like the start of a new year for me. Granted, as I'm taking courses year-round, I don't really feel like I have any divisions between the years.. but if there was one, the start of Fall would be it.

Plus my birthday is in the fall.

I was torn between Summer and Winter. I love Summer because we get some awesome storms and the cricket's on TV, just too awesome. But Winter's awesome too. Call me crazy but I love it when it's cold and raining.

July - mid October.

Winter is too damn dreary in Finland. Some days you only get five hours of sunlight (during which you're inside at school or work). Get up, it's dark, get home, it's dark, and there's 30 cm of snow that needs shoveling, dishes that need washing etc.. I feel sorry for those who live even further to the north.

Spring sucks, snow upto early April, and all the melting ice and snow makes everything really dirty. Brown, cinnamon coloured snow on the pavement, seasoned with salt and gravel plus the occasional patch of dog-urine if you're lucky. Then it starts melting, and all the frozen dog-turds start showing up for a week or two.

*votes autumn*
I love the colours and the leaves.
If it breaks, you get to keep both pieces.

Winter! Here is part of a poem I wrote about it a couple years ago (yes I'm a dork thx):
Quote:
i wait for winter, for the cold
for all the sickness to be scared off the streets seeking shelter
from the impendingly pure intricacy of the first snowflake
and always through that snow these echoes can fade
until the first determined decay
of the coming of Spring

In winter it's better outside. You can walk at night, quickly to stay warm, and there's no one there to bother you. On a summer night there's always some drunk, aggressive prostitute with heroin eyes screaming obscenities and urinating in the bus shelter. Or some guy wearing five pairs of pants limping alongside you saying he needs money for the train when there's no damn train around he's that kind of lost.

Winter is less stressful.
Also, it feels more natural being cold by default trying to stay warm than being hot trying to stay cold. But maybe if I lived away from the city in someplace with a less extreme climate (Denver now) I would like the other seasons better.

fall. why?

spring: has frogs and worms ( i am deathy afraid of them) and other insects which just make it icky to live

summer: can get pretty hot and icky..everyone generally smells like sweat

fall: i like it coz its kind of cool but not deathly frigid and no insects!

winter: well in cnaada it can get pretty damn cold and it snows alot so its a big chore..but lookin past the fifty layers of clothing and potential frostbite adn all that shoveling....snow is fun :)

so im a fall-winter lover.
