Chrono Trigger: Resurrection canceled

It was inevitable I suppose. Still the game was making great progress. I high recommend downloading the trailer.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

GAHHHH!!

I HAAAAAAAATE Square. They make one RPG I like and is considered one of the best RPGs out there, and they can't make another one even CLOSE to it. And when these people put the mad effort into making something that does it justice, Square smacks them down. Didn't ANY of them pick up the fact that Chrono Trigger (and this "Chrono Ressurection" from the looks of it) did wonders in breaking down the wall between exploration/environment and combat with the action on the same screen? Apparently not...

Thats f***ing bulls***.

Out of curiosity, what were they using to make the game?

I mean, it doesn't seem like the thing that someone would build an entire engine for, but then again, CT fans are rabid beasts who have been known to go to great lengths...

Me, I've been out of the loop for long enough that I don't know what people are using to make mods and games and stuff these days.

If I knew where to start, I'd petition against Square for this. Or find them and bite their ears off. Whatever works.

... No words...

I no longer have a reason to live, I may just kill myself. I wish i was joking.

You all forget. It is their game. They have every right to stop this unless they work out a deal where Square gets the very generous half.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.
2004-09-19, 7:14 PM #11
I know it sucks guys... but Square has the rights to do this. Its their idea... hopefully the people that where doing this will take the engine and just change the ideas possibly making an even better game.
2004-09-19, 7:16 PM #12
I think this game was going to be free once finished. This game would have only HELPED Square.
Think while it's still legal.
2004-09-19, 7:30 PM #13
Whether or not they have the right is irrelevant, these guys were making something wonderful, so unless Square is gonna do it themselves they should have let it go. It's not like they were profiting from Square's idea, it was probably COSTING them.

Greedy bastards. I've been looking forward to this for so long... and now it's gone. Chrono Cross was a poor substitute, and now it's gone forever. I hope the Square-Enix execs burn in hell.

What exactly do game/movie companies get out of shutting down non-profit themed mods and websites? Absolutelly nothing.

Alright. Far too many games have been cancelled lately.

Between Full Throttle 2, and CT:R, I say the nerds of both join up, and we'll roit at the gates of LucasArts and SquareSoft..

It'll be the biggest revolution since the "Bring Back Star Trek" campaign!! Nevermind it didn't work, that's irrelevant! WE DEMAND INSTANT GRATIFICATION.

Uhm.. so in other words....

Burn them all.

If Square does it's own sequel, that looks at least 82.56% as good as that one, then they have a right. Otherwise they're just greedy *******.

Yes, it sucks that a video game people were looking forwards to was cancelled. But some of your responses surprise me... what ever gave people the impression that they were owed anything by the video game industry? This is just one video game in world of thousands of them, its nothing to get worked up over.
2004-09-19, 11:37 PM #21
Agreed!

I'd also like to add that it was never even meant to be a full game, just seven scenes... I really dislike anything that resembles Dragonball.

I was still looking forward to it.

I'ven been ogling that'un off and on for quite some time. It did look quite intriguing. I really do agree with Geb on this note.

Why can Square not realize that with CT they did things so very very wonderfully RIGHT, and with ff they did things so very very horridly WRONG.

CT was a cracklike joy to play, ff's just got /tedious/ and i usually stopped caring after about an hour. FF7 is the only one i actually could be arsed to finish.

So in an attempt to bring some cheer back to myself and this thread! Ickle Lavos Spawns :D

Well that explains why my direct link to their news page has been broken for the last week or so. I thought the site was down. I didn't bother to check the front page.

CT = best RPG of all time.
Lyrics are highly overrated.

I think they were using some advanced program that game companies actually used too. I do recall them saying that the game would be released for the Gamecube and X-Box as well as the PC. While I understand that Chrono Trigger is copy righted by Square-enix, I still think they should had let the game go since it is only about seven scenes from the game.

"Chrono Break" was suppose to be the third game, but it went under the radar quite some time ago.
