What is your favourite one and which one do you recommend? I'm in favour of dumping symantec, b/c I heard that they're not that good compared to others.

I'm currently using Norton SystemWorks 2004 and I don't have any complaints about it.

Well now Trend-Micro's free house call. I let it scan over night and it found three frickin trojans! There was one file I guess was transmitting (called lgf.dll) so I had to unplug the cable to delete it without Trend-Micro. I scanned the EXACT file with Norton and it registered as Not Infected!

Was able to manually delete it, and as an awesome result I have no more popups. I was getting plagued by them for the last couple months and adaware, spybot, cwshredder, and even hijack this weren't working well against whatever was causing them. This seems to have ended it though. :)

Definitely gonna invest in Trend-Micro's stuff in the future, Norton can shove it.

VET

I call it Virus Expansion Technology, but that's just me. Its an awesome program. It just sits there and does its job. Never whinges, only pops up when its scanning, found something or when its updating. With the updating, its a very quick process...around 10 seconds.

Half the time you don't even know its running.

Awesome program. Love it.

Linux.

In all seriousness, though, I have no anti-virus. And I haven't had a virus in oh, 3 years? Yeah, sounds right.

Penicillin is a drug against bacteria. It has no effect what-so-ever on viruses. You have to reprimand your doctor.

I use F-Secure Anti-Virus. I get it free of charge from the University. A full commercial program for free is hard to beat.

I am just careful with what programs I use and keep my computer up-to-date.
And if I need a scanner I use the free DOS or Linux version of f-prot.
