Looking to get a new computer for cheap?

HardOCP's 500$ upgrade guide. Very solid, I had a quick look-see, very good advice. I would say this should be stickied will all the current "UPGRADING MY PC" threads, but I suppose that's part of the reason I'm not an admin. ;)

They left some things out...

Case, PSU, optical drive, hard drive...

I've been looking for something like this. Thanks.
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Most of which is optional depending upon what you want to do. Those things will vary. I'm pretty sure what they gave you is a very decent starting point. The rest is up to you.

If you actually think you can get by without a case, PSU, hard drive and optical drive... ok then...

Uhh, it's an upgrade guide, not a new PC guide... It's pretty much assuming you already have all of that.

You can "get by" without a case and optical drive though...

I kinda miss my caseless PC... It had... personality.

Bleh...technicalities :p

That's a pretty solid upgrade. Since you are upgrading, you ought to have a case, hard drive, CD drives, etc. already

Yeah, I mis-named the thread. But I figured this would come in handy with many people around here.

I knew someone who put their entire PC in a big carboard box. I've seen other people online do it, but this was the only time I'd seen one in person. Man, that thing was suddenly funny as hell in person.
