The word "Virgin" in the koran is supposedly the translation for the word "huri". Now, "huri" didn't appear in that language (?) until fairly recently. So linguists checked languages the Middle East.

Apparently, "huri" exists as another word too in Syro-Aramaic, one that predates the writing of the Koran AND existed long before the modern usage of the word "huri". Huri means "white grapes".

Do you know what this implies?

I think the IRA was an organization that was unfairly labeled terrorist up until the 1970s (give or take a few years). The IRA of the early 1900s up until the 1920s was a legitimate army that wore uniforms, and attacked military targets. England refused to recognize them as a standing army, because doing so would mean admitting Ireland was in rebellion.

Once the Free-State was established, and Collins was murdered for "letting" the northern counties stay in england's posession, the group split into various factions (like the so-called "Real IRA") which mostly consisted of radicals.

Once pure nationalism became the overriding motivation, it all changed. In the 70s there was a lot of religious, though mostly nationalistic, tension in the north. Neither side had any justification, but I feel the need to note that despite what english history likes to report, the Catholics weren't the only ones killing people, and the government's hands werem't clean either.

With all this talk about grapes, right now I'd kill for 72 normal grapes!

So let me get this straight... if they get 72 virgins and screw them... they won't be virgins anymore, right? That seems odd if that is their heaven. If it is supposed to be grapes, if they ate them, do they not get more once they are out?

I'm thinking the 72 grapes are just a metaphor.
