If you could, would you get a Hummer?
2004-09-22, 12:09 PM #1
Honestly, if you had the money and the choice, would you purchase a Hummer (the standard ones)? In my opinion, they are just unnecessarily big and somewhat odd looking in a crowd of cars. They may be great on rough terrain and grounds, but I feel they just not needed to be used for simple errands on pavements.

Why do people like to buy such expensive vehicles? I guess they can look "kick-***," but often they are looked upon their bulkiness and height. But, then again, they are just like SUVs in a different form. *shrug*

I'd prefer a HumVee.
VTEC just kicked in, yo!

Yes, I would get a Hummer if I had the chance. I agree about being unecessarily big, but I still think they look cool.
I bet you think that's funny, don't you.
2004-09-22, 12:17 PM #4
No, I wouldn't. They are too big, I'd rather have a smaller car. they're great for rugged terrain and all, but It's not like I'm going to drive alot in that type of terrain.

Cool, yes. But not practical.

I wouldn't get any car.

I used to like them, when hardly anyone owned one. Now even soccer moms own them. They're just not cool anymore.

I'd rather have a WW2-era jeep. Those things were even more hardcore than the modern Hummer.

By hardcore you mean less capable off-road? :p Don't get me wrong, any type of Jeep can do some intense off-roading, but the Hummer is just leagues ahead in that respect.

I wouldn't get any car unless it were a hybrid or full electric.

Actually a smaller jeep can get zillions of places a hummer can't, especially in forested areas with no roads - hummers have a hard time finding a line through trees.

In response to the original question, I would definitely get a hummer/humvee, NOT an H2, though, those things are piles of crap. Hummers rock, the 4-wheel fully independent suspension which gets you insane ground clearance is by far the most attractive feature, plus they look good you can drive over any stupid honda civic that challenges you to a race ;)

I hate suvs in the city. Out in the mountains, they have their uses, but no one can present a legitamate reason why you need them in the city.

Big Suvs block my vision when I'm driving, even if I follow a few car lengths behind. It's like driving behind a bus or a semi or something. Their tinted windows make it so you can't see other cars through them, which is especially dangerous when you are trying to make a left turn at a non-protected intersection without one of those left turn lights.

I nearly got hit a few times trying to see around big suvs and other cars that block my vision when I go to turn.

Tinted windows should be illegal. People shouldn't need them-- no one wants to look at them, so why do they need to have tinted windowes like a f***ing celebrity?

I'd get one of the H1s, not the new crappy ones. I want the kind they use in the military with the .50 cal machine gun so people won't **** around with me :p

They are one of the best off road vehicles in the world today

If a hummer gets stuck in the mud, it doesnt have handles in the corners so that 4 strong guys can simply lift it out. :p

The H2 is a piece of crud, i would get the humvee, now you can actually get one of these.

I'd rather, oh, put the money towards more important things like hookers and cocaine.

But imagine how much cooler the hookers and cocain would be if you were driving around in a Humvee :p

It'd be cool but I coldn't afford the gas.
2004-09-22, 4:12 PM #24
I would most definitely get an H1. The H2s are a cheap knock-off, and while they still look cool, they have none of the awesome features that the H1s have.

This is exactly why the USA is going to crap - because people don't understand the basic premise of the country. People NEED freedeom. You shouldn't have to justify everything you purchase. You don't NEED mechanical pencils, or padded couches, or refrigerators, or even a car. You don't NEED anything but food, water and shelter. But that doesn't stop you from buying or making it. So get over yourself, back off from them, and be more careful when you drive.

No. I don't want a hummer. I don't want ANY SUV. They're big. Most are dangerous. They're an annoyance to other drivers. And they get very crappy gas mileage.

It isn't people's RIGHT to block traffic and other driver's views. It isn't people's RIGHT to use a disproportional amount of gas, creating higher demand and driving up prices. It is isn't people's RIGHT to spew out chemicals polluting the world, destroying the environment just so they can look cool. The people who do this are taking advantage of the freedom that our country bestows on them. They act irresponsibly and without any concern for their fellow humans. This blatant disregard for humanity and the rampant commercialism that rule the country- that is why the US is going to crap.

no offense to any guys that drive SUVs here, but Suvs are getting to be chick cars. Pretty much any soccer mom has one of the damn things, and to me, SUVs reek of estrogen. No way a self-respecting man should be caught dead driving a big thing like that in the city just to pick up groceries, IMO. Encasing yourself inside several tons of metal just to go out on flat pavement with other smaller, more easily-destroyed vehicles just seems to symbolize insecurity and weakness, someone once told me that they believe chicks like these vehicles b/c they seem safer and bigger than any other car on the road.

Now, give me a sports car with a V8, fast speed, and high maneuverability, or a big pickup that has a truck bed that actually has stuff in it on a regular basis. THAT's a man's car.
