Anyways.. I'm getting into all kinds of fencing. Currently just learning the basics in sport fencing foil... but looking to get into the SCA.

So there was an SCA event down at Fort Knox a week or two ago. I just got back the pictures, and released why people were looking at me funny all day long.. my damn tunic looks rediculous.

So .. any fencers in here?

I've been fencing for about 10 weeks now. Just thought I'd throw that out there. Hard, isn't it?

Just noticed this post. It's not that fun, unless you view getting stabbed and getting incredibly strong in the leg area as fun. I do it to get strong, and I'm hooked on it now that I'm so far into it.

I would like to give fencing a try sometime.

I would like to know how to use a broad sword.

I am a senior master expert teacher god at fencing. Not.

I've fenced before. It's different than fighting with lightsabers.

Its really fun, i used to do it.

I fence epee (IT CANNOT BE BEATEN). Actually, I haven't fenced in a while. There's no one to fence here in INdia.

I actually qualified for the summer nationals but I couldn't go because I was moving. (I was qualified almost by default. There were 11 epeeists, and I came in fourth, and one person had qualified somewhere else. )

I've been doing fencing for around a year and a bit now, great sport. I mainly fence saber but I'm good with a foil too. I've not been to any competitions yet but it's on my list of things to do...

I suggest once you've mastered (well at least begun) the foil, you should try out epee and saber each before choosing which to use. Some people fence both but i feel you need to specialise to get the most out of each weapon. And I fence in stuff that looks like Happydud's image too.

I'd have thought that was more like a rapier. Foils look completely different (to my knowledge)... But yes you are holding it wrong :p

Theres not really any set time I think, they'll start you off on foil, i'd advise you to stick with it for a while, to get hold of the basics. Ask them when you can start saber next week :p

Be sure to try epee. I've done saber once or twice, and it was pretty fun, but I still much prefer epee to both foil and saber.

I've been fencing for over a year now. Just came back form a doubles epee tornamount. 3rd place. Epee is my favorite.
