It's such a shame it's a console port. This game could be awesome if developed for PC first. :-(

San Andreas looks like crap for 1 reason: It's GTA meets Tamagotchi. What a piece of crap.
2004-09-26, 2:39 PM #4
It's just introducing RPG elements..
Which makes sense, and it's more of a freeform FPS, it has to have RPG-style limitations so that players feel more of a bond with their characters.

Have you read anything about the game, other than the fact that you have to feed your player, and various other MINOR things you have to do to keep your player alive (which is realistic while not being overbearing)? The size of the city, the scope of the gangs, the fact that when you fight you actually FIGHT, the weapons...everything looks awesome.

Can you play as a chick? I want to play an obese ghetto queen and take over the city.
2004-09-26, 2:49 PM #7
As long as you can turn those features off, I'll buy it. I play games to escape from reality, not watch my weight.

GTA is meh. I never liked any of them.
2004-09-26, 3:03 PM #9
Yeah, they're going to allow you to turn off brand new features to a game that not many other people have a problem with.

Yeah, they probably will. We call it a cheat. You may have heard of them.

That was a pretty... IGNORANT thing to say...
2004-09-26, 3:44 PM #12
I doubt it, Detty. They don't usually take the cheats to that extreme of a level. A hack or trainer for the PC? Maybe.

And you're one to call me ignorant, Mikus.

So you really think it's unlikely that there won't be cheat codes to set your character to super-athletic or super-fat? Given the types of cheat codes GTA games have had in the past, i'm of the opinion that such codes are extremely likely.

So turning off sandwich mode is extreme, but making you invincible is not? GJ. (And yes, I am one, as I tend not to talk out of my *** on EVERY thread on the boards, unlike some green dinosaurs...)

It doesn't sound at all like a gigapet, it sounds more like I'll have a REASON to "obtain" money other than buying random buildings. It gives more reason and reality to just running around killing things.

I am acknowledging that fact kirby, but if I wanted reason and reality I would play The Sims.

That last blrub I read said that you can get hand to hand training in the Chinatown of the SF sytle city to further develope your combat skills and that there would be takedown kills ala Manhunt. There are also going to be fully playable basketball games which is another way to keep your self in shape. This game is going to be better than the previous GTA games, hands down.

Fixed.

And yeah, changing a major addition to the game is extreme. I can kinda see where Detty's coming from--you may get something like always skinny or always fat or stuff like that, but I dunno. You might not, too.

It's up to Rockstar.

This'll be one hell of a damn dumb game.

You could probably circumvent the new features in SA if you wanted to play classic GTA style.

Trainers are incredibly useful. I only beat demoltion man on Vice b/c i got a trainer that stopped the clock. Yes, it was that fustrating for me.

I hope SA has ***NO**** Rc missions in it. I hate those. What kind of criminal plays with remote control toys? It would make a great side mission you need to get 100%, but RC missions should not be part of the main storyline.
2004-09-26, 11:48 PM #25
Just because you lack the talent to use them :p

rall though, I kind of see where yo're coming from, but I liked the RC helicoptor mission. They were fun to fly

That was probably the mission that took me the longest to complete, but I found it really satisfying when I had. It was difficult and challenging, but it wasn't stupid or irritating.

The boat missions, however, were stupid and irritating. If you missed one jump, or spun out once, it was all over. and most importantly, it really wasn't any fun. It was a linear racing game, without any opponents. zzz.
Those I could certainly do without.

GTA 2 was certainly the most freeform of the series, and I really hope San Andreas follows this, perhaps with more open missions. Playing through a linear storyline is good only if the storyline is really good, like Vice City (and unlike GTA3).

The same thing could be said about that Dildo dodo mission for the film studio asset. The seaplane is kind of hard to fly, b/c once you crashed it on land, it was all over. The helicopters were much easier.

the boats in the game were fun to drive if you were not in a hurry, but I agree, the boat checkpoint missions did suck.

GTA is overrated. It's fun, but random killing does start to tire after the thousandth pedestrian.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

Yeah. The other nine-hundred and ninety-nine were pretty enjoyable though ;)

Please, tell me I can be a cannibal in this game. It would make the eating aspect so much more fun.

Yup it is still there. You can see it taking off from an aircraft carrier in the latest trailer.
