Lucas confirms leaked Episode III rumors.
Recently leaked photographs of George Lucas wearing a Jedi robe in front of a green screen had many confused.
“I received an anonymous e-mail that supposedly contained leaked Episode III pictures.” Said Jeff Kolner, an editor at The Boston Globe. “The pictures looked very real, I really didn’t think they could have been edited, so I investigated.”
Jeff claims that he e-mailed the pictures to the official Star Wars website and received a reply in less then 24 hours.
“They told me that the pictures were fakes and that I should just delete them, but why would they ask me to delete fake pictures?”
Kolner claims he had e-mailed the pictures to various websites, and by the end of the month, they were practically everywhere. “I was amazed at how fast the pictures circulated, but then again it is the Internet.”
During a recent interview on 60 Minutes, Lucas confirmed the pictures were in fact real.
“There is a scene in The Revenge of the Sith where Obi-Wan sees a glimpse of himself in the future, and since Alec Guinness passed away about four years ago, we needed another actor to play the part.” Lucas said. “I decided that this would be the perfect way to put a little piece of me in the Star Wars films. A little bit of makeup and some voice editing is all it took. I think the fans of the films will be very pleased with the end results.”
Lucas didn’t mention many more details concerning Episode III, but he did briefly discuss Indiana Jones IV. The interview will premier tonight at 9-p.m. on CBS.
