Hahahahahahah. Ah...hah...

Hell, if DNF is moving, HL2's at least GOT to come out.

Personally, I think 3d Realms are fools to keep development on DNF. That game's development life span is so laughable that Daikatana's life span looks microscopic in comparison. Half-Life 2's life span isn't even that long compare to DNF. IF DNF ever comes out, it better be pretty DAMN SPECIAL for it to salvage it's reputation. Otherwise, it'll just fall victim to Daikatana's fate - pure garbage.

i remember when it had an engine that was before quake 3.

knowing them, it was probably the level put in a 3d modeling program and rendered instead of an ingame shot (this was back in about 98).

DNF was on the Quake 2 engine at first and then move on to the Unreal engine, both engines older than Quake 3.

It's sad when I look over at my stack of old Pc Gamer mags talking about the same thing...couple of years ago.

We still are waiting for StarCraft II... and it's been 7 years now. Morrowind took 6 years to make, when it was promised originally in 1998 (which would have been 2 years, the same distance between Arena and Daggerfall) Doom3 took only 5 years, by comparison.

Doom 3 took 3.5 years.

But as far as I know, none of those game had a complete media blackout like DNF... we haven't seen a new screen or trailler for around 5 years.

And we're still waiting for StarCraft II because it's not in development.
I bet you think that's funny, don't you.

What is it? I can't play Doom 3 so I can't see it.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

Pfft, that's nothing. DNF was announced sometime in 1997, after about a year of development on the Quake 2 engine. It was in 1999 in people were already saying that the game was taking forever and when PC Gamer had a preview of the game using the Unreal engine. It was also then was the last time we heard any really big news on the game. It has been five years since then and nothing noteworthy has came out. Basically, it has been in development for about seven years. Now that is sad.

It was in an e-mail that you get at some point in the game. I don't really remember where.

I don't think any of you really understand. They've modelled, brick by brick, the entire West Coast of the United States, included fully voice acted NPCs for each citizen. This will be the most immersive gaming experience ever in the history of man, spanning out on 20 DVDs for release 1 then monthly expansion packs of 5 CDs.
