I don't think he believes he's going to succeed. It's just an interesting take on things.

If evolutionary theory is accurate, then God's genetic makeup should most resemble Earth's first life forms.

Not necessarily, unless there's evidence that they were created spontaneously.

The only thing in the Universe that has ever been created out of nothing is energy, at the start of the Universe.

That's one hell of a big 'if'.

I hope he realizes that this is a really bad analogy.

God has DNA? Okey dokey.

I'm also going to guess that this guy doesn't know one religion from the next....

It includes Pagan and Hindu gods, as well as Diveneus deus, Keats' scientific moniker for the monotheistic God known as Jehovah, Yahweh or Allah.

I don't even know where to begin pointing it out. I don't think there has ever been more incorrect information presented in two sentences.
Heck, there are African religions that don't even believe in a god. I think that maybe, just maybe, that might disolve that statement pretty quickly. And his analogy fails because you categorize plants by their characteristics. A change in characteristic would indicate a different plant, just a change in the character of a god would indicate they are different.
Also, Hinduism isn't technically polytheistic. Each deity is a manifestation of their almighty god (Brahman). Some forms of Paganism are similar to that idea.

I hope that thing explodes. Then maybe he could meet the real God and explain what the hell he was doing.
