I haven't seen the DVDs yet, and am wondering if they fixed this.

Just as Luke is escaping the wampa cave, you hear the "light saber turning off sound", but the saber is obviously still on.

I'm actually hoping it's still in there. It's one of those problems that adds... character. Kind of like a car window that has to be forced up and down by hand (not a lever, but actually pushing the glass down), or a ceiling fan that has to be spun manually to get the motor going. It's a problem that makes you like the object more.

I liked how in ANH, they really seemed to keep the scenes where you actually see the lightsabers ignight/turn off to a minimum.

I think you only see obi wan do it when he fights vader.

Also, Luke, when he's training on the 'Falcon, and Ben, when he chops the guy's arm off in the cantina.

It's still there. I actually only noticed it for the first time after watching the DVD.

Maybe Lucas just doesn't know it's there? If that's the case, may he never find out.

So, let me get this straight... He messes around with the movies and he doesn't fix a sound error?

If any of you has watched that featurette on the lightsabers, they show something that must have been a really early cut, where when Obi-Wan is fighting Vader, and he holds up his saber to "pray", Vader cuts him in half at the torso instead of cutting off his head, and then obi-Wan's bottom half of his robes fall off, revealing nothing under them, then the top half falls to the floor. Its kind of weird but cool.
